Title: Calendar?
Post by: GTRS Fiero on January 17, 2017, 08:59:15 pm
This may be the wrong place for this, but do events go on the calendar?  I see birthdays, but not club events.  I looked at September for both this year and last year.  No RFTH.  I checked a few months.  No cruise-ins.  No meetings.

Yes, I know that there are threads for the meetings every month.  In fact, that is most of the threads on some boards.  Still better than where I live, where we have no club, no site, no boards, no topics, and make a thing of not meeting up.

In the Club Events button at the left side of your screen is a listing of happenings, by date.

Woo-hoo!  A post by Linda!

Interesting timing, but I honestly didn't know it just came up in the meeting.

Uh, yeah.  That's was nice.  Now if I only had a time machine.  Well, it did answer my question about the Sonic thing, which makes me wonder.  What is it that creates an event that attracts participation?

Some of us have jobs, and don't have time to chat on this thing all day. And you should be nice to my wife.

I thought it was cool that she posted in a thread I started.  Most of my replies were from you or Fierofool, with Radar and one or two others.  I have nothing but respect for Linda.  Kuddos to her for what she has been able to accomplish, and her positive attitude.  I didn't intend to come accross otherwise.

All of you have jobs, of one sort or another.  Said jobs may or may not involve compensation.

In my reading here, I've noticed that Linda is very upbeat, and a lot of the drive and energy come from her.  I haven't seen a single negative post from her.  On top of everything else, she is a club officer.

The parade looked really cool, especially with the eyes on the headlights.

Is there any way Club Events can be duplicated on the Message Board?  My guess is most folks get in the habit of looking at the Message Board and forget the Club Events even exists.

For what it's worth, if my car is running I'd like to do the Dublin Parade.

This is in no way a complaint, or meant as any type of negative.

I'm most folks, apparently.  If Club Events was a snake, it'd have bit me.  I'd been there before, but forgotten about it.  Boy, I sure felt dumb.

Usually, the events page would have the official pictures/video of events, so that they were easy to find.  This would include the archives.  The events usually generate excitement and lead to activity in the message boards, where discussion takes place.  The pictures there would center on the discussion, rather than the event being discussed, if that makes sense.  The calendar would have past, present, and scheduled future events.  Links from  the calendar events would go to the events pages, where you could see pictures and get all the important info (time, location, etc).

I'm not saying any particulay way is better or worse, just different.

There are some who have saved the message board in their favorites and go direct to it, and are totally unaware of what might be on the home page.  This happens with other Fiero forums, too.  Not just ours.  It's surprising how many times we're asked about meeting time or where's the meeting held.  Not just by a new contact that's been given a club business card, but by folks who've attended meetings before.

Some just visit the facebook page and never come to the website.  That's the only problem I really have with the facebook site.  I don't know how many of our members have a facebook account, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of activity there.  I don't have an account and only occasionally use my wife's sign in to see what's happening over there.

I don't have a facebook logon, either.  I get more than enough facebook fixing the problems others have with it, or the problems it causes.

I'll be the first to admit to being lazy in my internet browsing.  It is nice on here to just hit the Home button and be notified of what's new, or the unread/new replies links at the top.

Oh, I forgot we have a facebook page...

Is there a link to the forum?

Does the club facebook page still get updated?

I don't think so.  I think Tinkerbell still owns it and she's now in Florida and hasn't been a part of the Fiero community in quite a while.  When I try to go to the page, it tells me to "enter the code below" into a box, but there's no code to enter.
