Title: LED taillight bulbs
Post by: Tha Driver on October 21, 2017, 01:27:27 am
So... the Mera taillights tend to melt with the stock bulbs. What's it take to convert to LEDs - anyone have a source for quality ones & the electronic flashers?
Thanks,

Other than BTR, or are the Mera bulbs different from other Fieros?

See here (https://blacktop.racing/cars/pontiac-fiero/exterior-lighting-upgrades/).

A word of caution: these bulbs are longer than stock.

Just to be clear.  You have an Indy, AND a Mera?

Link is screwed in my browser - page is covered with a grey "popup", & the X to close it doesn't work. Wish webmasters would code better...
And no, I don't own a Mera just working on it for a friend.  ;D
It takes standard 1157 & 1156 bulbs.

I have LEDs for all external lights on both my Fieros. Some are from Ebay, and some from a Chinese company called tomtop.com. Try to find ones where the seller states the lumens of the bulbs.
The particular ones I used for tail lights are from this seller (https://www.ebay.com/itm/High-Power-15W-800LMS-T15-1156-1157-3157-7443-LED-Backup-Turn-Signal-Tail-Lights/391096383350?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=660468198164&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649) on Ebay, and are currently out of stock (all socket 1157 bulbs are listed as out of stock). If they are ever in stock again, they're good bulbs.

This company is local to me.  I've never tried these bulbs.

The signal flasher I use with LED bulbs is a Novita EP34. You can get these at Auto Zone where the electronic parts peg boards are. It's a 3- pin device, so you plug it into the Fiero 2-pin connector and ground the third pin. There's a diagram on the back of the card it comes on showing the pins. Ground the one labeled "negative".

Thanks Pat. Good to know what works - to bad they're out of stock on the 1157s.

Just to be clear.  You have an Indy, AND a Mera?
BTW, While I don't have a Mera, In addition to the Indy I have an '88 custom project, an '88 lightweight solo project, the VW Cabrio with Fiero drivetrain & SBC (project), an '88 that someone needs to build, an '86 parts car (no engine, trans, or interior), a wrecked '88 parts car, & a little left of an '84 parts car.
I also have two project bugs, the project Z car ('77), the project Dodge pickup, & the mini car.
And my "daily" driver '82 BMW 320i.
Lots of projects - no money.  :-\

For some reason, I thought you sold the pickup.
