Title: Which is it?
Post by: GTRS Fiero on March 22, 2018, 07:55:45 pm
TFS just sent out an email with mostly manual transmission stuff, but I saw a flywheel.  Isn't this the hard-to-get part that rotates or whatever, or is that the harmonic balancer?

When I did my 3.4, they didn't list any flywheels for a Fiero.  I knew that I could get one from a Beretta and they had them listed.  The pre-88's have no substitute.  TFS may be offering a compatible flywheel from another GM vehicle.

Harmonic damper pullies aren't available, either.  You'd need to go to someone like Damper Doc or have a 3.4 pulley re-cut.

It this the part that gets out of whack on occasion?

Not generally.  It's not the one you're thinking of, but with a lot of clutch slipping, it will get really out of whack.  The harmonic balancer is the one that goes wack-o.

Ok.  Thanks.
