Title: October 22 Blue Ridge Parkway Cruise
Post by: Fierofool on September 28, 2016, 08:22:35 pm
I have a rough draft route laid out.  Is it going to happen?  I need to know some details to finalize a route for those who're going.

Pat said he couldn't go and neither can I.  Who else plans to go if I lay out a trip?

The cruise has been canceled due to lack of participation.

Conditions arose that would not have allowed me to attend.

The MAOFA group is apparently running this, next weekend.

For some reason, I had thought the BRP was in NC, rather than VA.

The Parkway starts in the area of Cherokee, NC and extends to Waynesboro, Va.  It changes names to The Shenandoah Parkway/Skyline Drive and ends in Front Royal, Va.  Other than signs indicating so, you wouldn't know of the transition.

Because we only had one day each time we traveled on the Parkways, it took Melanie and I 3 days to cover the entire length.  We started at Front Royal and exited at Roanoke.  The second year we entered at Roanoke and exited at Asheville.  The third year we completed the trip from Ashville to Cherokee.

Year 1 was in a Mercury Lynx.  Year 2 was in a Bradley GT II.  Year 3 was in a Beretta GT.  Except for year 2 when we had 2 Bradleys and a Kelmark GT, everything was done at the speed limit.

I have been to Roanoke, Jamestown, Natural Bridge, and some other places in VA.  I crossed the Chuck Yeager bridge.  Must've missed the BRP.
