Title: Suspension work
Post by: ron768 on January 13, 2016, 12:40:43 pm
So, this winter I have many things to do on my 85. First is installing the lowering springs . The rears were easy and are completed. The fronts are apart , the bump stop towers have been cut down and are being prepped for welding. Now for bump stops. New stops are not available anywhere I have looked. Does anyone have 2? Do the universal fit poly bump stops fit?

This may help.

Otherwise, I just searched "bump stop", as a thread title, in "all forums and archives".
There are some "88" threads, but they are easy to see and avoid.

These don't look like what I think they should look like nor the pic in Steve's link, but I don't know.  Couldn't find anything on PartsGeek.com

I couldn't find anything on GM Parts Direct, either.  Even looking at other Pre-Fiero cars brought nothing.  Maybe searching for one of the later year Rear Wheel Drive cars like Camaro or Firebird?

Steve, All the springs have been replaced. Now , I need to get the alinement done so that I dont wear the tires out. The mirror is completed and works as advertised . Next on the list is 7730 with the egr replaced with the digital egr. I will also be replaceing the AC tubes and hoses from the front of the car to the AC compressor . If I get time I will also be painting a pair of sail panels. So far, so good. I'm lucky to have all of ya'll for advise and tech help. Ron

So, this weekend has been spent under the car replacing motor mounts. All of them are worn out after 30 years, some more than others. The forward transmission mount rubber was totally gone. So far 3 mounts have been replaced with 2 left to be delivered . I may also replace the cradle mounts while I'mm at it. Again, I have neglected my car for way too long. Also, I managed to pick up another 3.4 out of a 95  Camaro. I now have 2 motors to rebuild when I get more money and time.

Careful, those motors are like cats! And they multiply like rabbits!

Did you complete this?

Never mind.  I found it.
