Not a Club event, but cool. Last time my 30 year old car was one of the newest ones attending...
Starts at 0900 as a car show.
Ends at 1400 as a car show.
Somewhere in-between there's a "Power Kruise".
Located in Appling, GA at the intersection of Ray Owens Rd and White Oak Rd.
Take exit 183 on I-20 and head toward Appling on Appling-Harlem Road (We have clever names around here. Guess where you wind up if you go the other direction.) for about 5 miles.
Appling-Harlem turns into Ray Owens after going through the Metropolis of Appling (Mentioned in the opening scenes of The Purge).
You'll pass a large Church on the left (Kiokee Baptist) and a few hundred yards later will arrive at the intersection with White Oak Rd (The flashing lights are a tip-off. So are all the cars on the left)
Oh, you're there.
-
The other way? Harlem? Small towns used to name roads based on where the roads went, but it was more common in other countries than here.
-
Very Clever.
Now where do you think Harlem-Grovetown Road goes?????
And as a bonus, Evans To Locks Rd?
-
Do any of these intersect Main St, or Kingshighway?
I wasn't sure if the "you're there" referred to the movie thing or the car show.
Somebody named a bunch of our streets after toothpaste.
-
No common-folk names like Main or Kinshighway around here.
You're there is the car show. Between you and me, I don't think the movie scene was filmed in Appling. No parking lots big enough.
Yes, this means the car show is in a field.
-
In (sort of) East GA, there is a town named "Between".
It's "between" Loganville and Monroe.
-
Yup. Always thought that was a clever name too.
-
And if you're down on Appling-Harlem Road in October, head toward Harlem for the Oliver Hardy Festival.
-
YES! Great Festival.
There's suppose to be a private car museum in/around Harlem.
Should I look into this for the Club?
-
We haven't gotten to the ones in Toccoa and Athens, yet.
-
Good point. I'm interested in the Athen's Museum.

Folks, hope this link works: https://photos.app.goo.gl/TXoxC9JOnCDmEjYl1 (https://photos.app.goo.gl/TXoxC9JOnCDmEjYl1)

It works. It looks like fun.

Very nice! Some fairly uncommon machinery, there. Wish there were more pics of the '58 Chevy.
The powder blue Challenger... Do you recall what year? I'm thinking 73 or 74, but it seems to be missing the big-azz bumper guards that those had. (At least the Barracudas had them. Not sure about the Challenger.)
Thanks! I need to start making it to some shows.
-
It isn't often that I see a Studebaker pickup. Make that I don't ever recall having seen one previously. I had no idea they made pickup trucks.

Can't help ya Raydar. Tried to zoom on the nameplate and all I could see was Kiokee Kruisers.

No big... Just curious.
