I hadn't seen anything about the upcoming RFTH 18 rerun that's coming up very soon. Just wanted to get a thread started so that people are aware and can make plans. We've talked about it just being a one day event. Nothing but driving, stopping for lunch then some more driving.
I would suggest that we meet at the intersections of Georgia Hwy 400 and Georgia Highway 60, in Dahlonega, Ga. There are 2 gas stations at that intersection and a good place to group together. Lots of parking lot. The BP station lot is elevated so we can make our cars visible to everyone passing by. More public exposure.
Georgia 400 comes out of Atlanta, connecting with I-85 and the northern part of I-285. Georgia 60 connects with I-985 in Gainesville. I-985 is accessible via Hwy 53 which runs between I-85 exit 129 and I-985 exit 16.

There's a BP there now? Last time I was there it was Shell and Exxon.
What would be the route from there?
-
The route will be the one used for RFTH18. It will include the best part of US129, Wolf Pen Gap Rd, GA60, and other great curves.
I still have the file I used to print route sheets, and will print some more.

Just checked Google and Streetview shows it's a Chevron. The other one is a Shell.
Meet up at the Chevron?

The current weather forecast for Saturday is sunny and 76 degrees. Perfect day for another run in the mountains.

Right now there are only 3 confirmed cars. Myself, Scott and Don and Daryl. If there are no more than that, I suggest we just cancel it, use what we would spend on gas and food and each buy ourselves a keg of beer and stay home.
-
I can go. But if it's still cancelled, let me know.
-
I need to know if this is on ASAP....... I'm using this as an excuse to get out of going to a wedding...... we can't cancel now.
-
I haven't been able to get hold of Greg, so I don't know if he's going to have the car ready. We can always go over to Ron's and work on the 88GT, so that way, you're still out of town for the day.
-
Has a desicion been made yet? I'm all for going.
-
It's still on. Pulling out of the Chevron at the intersection of Hwy 60 and Hwy 400 in Dahlonega at 9AM Saturday morning.
-
How'd it go?
-
We made it to the mid-way point in Blue Ridge. As we stopped to eat, it started to rain. As we drove back, the closer we got to the starting point in Dahlonega, the less it rained.

This time, nobody broke down in front of that church. But I'm beginning to think that running Fieros in that area causes it to rain. If they have a drouth there, we now know how to fix it. ;)
