Title: Gauging Interest - Club Shirts
Post by: Donster on June 10, 2012, 07:07:21 am
One point brought up at yesterday's meeting was that we never seem to really have a "Club Shirt".
When we meet for events or functions, mostly we all wear a mix-match of either RFTH shirts or some other "off-the-wall" Fiero shirt.

Pat and I briefly spoke about a design idea for a truly GAFC shirt. If we can get enough interest/commitments on a club shirt, I'll get with Kevin to see what we can come up with as far as price.

Pat recommended something along the line of the popular phrase "Got Milk?" on the front of the shirt: "Got Excitement?" then a Fiero logo next to it and then perhaps our club logo on the back?
Maybe have this available on both T-Shirts and polo shirts, depending on what you would prefer?

Open for ideas. Please post them here.

Thanks.

If you want it to Look like a club shirt, it should be either all
Polo Shirts or all T-Shirts.
Personally I would go with all Polo Shirts because they are look better at events.
Plus our RFTH shirts are T-Shirts.

I certainly agree, but price will always be a factor.

No harm in having both available though.

We also would have to agree on a color for the club.

If you're doing full color sublimation, you'd probably need white or light gray shirts.  For full color club logos, sublimation would be the only cost-effective method and sublimation inks are transparent, so darker color shirts would affect the end result of the print.

I thought the RFTH shirts WERE the official club shirts.

If we do this, i agree with going polo shirts...just a bit more up-scale, and we probably all own enough t-shirts.

Definitely Polo-style shirts... and ball caps, too!

No offense, Pat, but too many people use a "Got _________" slogan; it's just become way overused IMHO.

I don't know if it's ever been official, but I kinda thought that the GFC slogan was always "We Drive Excitement" so I'd stick with that, or just do something like the Fiero logo with "MEMBER" under it.

Color... now that's an interesting (and important) question!

Charlie's comments about dye-sub in consideration, I wish we could somehow do a really bright color???

Expanding on Tim's idea, on the front  "We Drive" over the Pegasus logo and "Excitement" underneath it in the left chest pocket position with the official  Georgia Fieros logo on the back.....

.....OR, reverse the order and put the logo on front like we do for RFTH shirts and the Pegasus logo and slogan on the back.  Kevin has a good Pegasus logo that he uses on It's A Fiero Thing tshirts.  Personally I'm unsure about using Member since some potential buyers may not be members.

Front:
DRIVE EXCITEMENT? WE DO!
Back:
Logo or GEORGIA FIERO CLUB or even include "IT'S A FIERO THING - YOU WOULDN'T UNDERSTAND!"

As to Charlie's remark about "Member", I was hoping that this eddition would be for "Members Only", but we could certainly offer standard shirts to anyone.
Just a thought.

I am absolutely FOR a front pocket.

That would present a good place for the logo.
Again, just my thoughts.

The front pocket isn't available in some brand shirts.  One year, I had to have my printer cut up a spoiled shirt, fabricate a pocket and sew it on because Ed Parks wouldn't buy a shirt without a pocket for his cigarettes.  I think his motto was "If I don't kill myself on the run, I'll do it with a cigarette when I get back".

If we can't find shirts with pockets, most of you are old enough to know how James Dean rolled his up in the sleeve of his tshirt.  In his case it wasn't the cigarette that got him, but a Porsche Speedster.

Doesn't look good when using a polo shirt though ;D

I like this idea (not that I matter 'cause I can't afford one... ;-)
I also like the TAN polo shirt I got when I first joined years ago. White just gets dirty far too soon - I can never keep anything white clean for very long.

Me and white just don't get along, but it would be multi-colored after a few days anyway.

Dwayne Schneider comment...   ROTFL!!!

Here's a pocket polo:

http://www.amazon.com/UltraClub-Adult-Whisper-Pique-Pocket/dp/B001EBFODC/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1339379248&sr=8-11 (http://www.amazon.com/UltraClub-Adult-Whisper-Pique-Pocket/dp/B001EBFODC/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1339379248&sr=8-11)

Or, maybe we could look at a different style, like this short-sleeve shirt, available either with a button-down collar, or "Camp" style that can be worn tucked in, or outside the pants:

http://www.amazon.com/UltraClub-Cypress-Sleeve-Pocket-Button/dp/B0083V08WI/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1339379248&sr=8-4 (http://www.amazon.com/UltraClub-Cypress-Sleeve-Pocket-Button/dp/B0083V08WI/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1339379248&sr=8-4)

I never did like the IT'S A FIERO THING- YOU WOULDN'T UNDERSTAND slogan... just me, but sounds pretentious. But, then, you probably wouldn't understand.   ;)

As long the polo is not a thick material I am ok with it. White .... well, definitively not my choice.
Hopefully Kevin has some shirts without a chest pocket.

For this price I'll need at least 12 orders.

Anne and I have "Faded Blue" shirts from Daytona, and they look great. Stand up well when washed also.
So, being the traditional type of guy, I'm going to stick with Black, White, Faded Blue/Blue, Grey & Red.

I do like the fact that we can get personalized shirts with choice of color at this price.

What is the intended design, front and back?

Kevin, what is the texture of the material?  Are they like Izod or tshirt texture?  What is the blend?  I've had requests for all cotton because other blends or textures irritated their skin.  Would we have a choice of material and style?

So much for them all being the same color.
I thought the idea was for us to look like we all belong to the same club.
For instance If we are at a function such as pigeon forge people would automatically
know we are a club that is well organized.

Linda, I agree!
Everybody could write his/her favorite color and the majority wins and that will be "the" color.
What do you think?

I cannot argue with that. But I know it will be difficult agreeing on a "club" color.

Perhaps we could change the color each year?

What do I know?

Why would we change the color every year ?
Couldn't that be a little pricey on top of dues each year ?
Of course NOBODY is required to buy a club shirt each year.
If we are going to change colors each year, should we put the year on them ?
Title: Re: Gauging Interest - Club Shirts

I don't think these were meant to be a new shirt every year. That would get expensive. And if so, why all the talk about a material for the shirt that would last?
Title: Re: Gauging Interest - Club Shirts
Post by: Donster on June 12, 2012, 09:07:29 pm
Now now folks, we're only talking about a shirt here.

However, my opinion is that we should agree on a "club" color and stick with it, as for "club identity", as Linda has previously mentioned. With a different color every year, we'd wind up wearing a mix-mash of Fiero shirts at events again, just like we do now.

Just my thoughts.

X2

If you choose a different color each year, then just let everyone have their choice of colors every year.  You'd end up with the same assortment, eventually.  No need to have the year or MEMBER on them, since that would almost require a new shirt each year, and those who don't renew their membership would still appear to be current members.  The sand color shirt I have has our logo embroidered and it also has the title of Vice President 2006.  Kind of limits me to wearing it for just one year.

While being a member is important for the strength of the club, being associated with the club is first priority.  I'd rather have a bunch that is associated with us and participates and shows our colors than to have folks that won't buy a shirt because they must be paid members.

Light blue.

I'm afraid white or stone would just let our 'group' blend in to any crowd.  The light blue will stand out a bit better.

No year joined, etc.  Keep 'em simple.

If my math is corect, 5 people prefer the light blue so far?

GAFC logo on left chest, Fiero logo under the collar on the back, name on right chest or sleve.

I will pay for a prototype in that color, but mine will most likely also say "Member: Donster", or something similar. My choice, but I plan on being a member until I can no longer get in or out of a Fiero anyways. ;D

So, when do we get a link and picture in the Club Merchandise section so we can start ordering?

Lt. Blue
Club Logo at left chest
Fiero Logo on the neck, just under the collar.

Could that Fiero Logo be just a little lower and larger than the sample Don had?

How much extra for your name or username on the sleeve?

Late to the party as usual.  Thank god u opted against white.  I just got a bad lesson in what can happen w white.  I just got back from myrtle beach ( mustang week).  Well I opted on white to be cooler in the sun.  I applied sunblock.  Dry spray on.  I now have a white shirt with a orange collar and sleeve edges.  I applied before putting on the shirt so it was not a direct spray.  And I was clean.  It was the sun block that stained the shirt.  It also happened to a friend at work.  Something in the sunblock!  So I'm glad for the no white.  Also I had a white polo at work I had to wear and lets say it gets dirty fast even in a clean environment and stains.

I see most voted light blue.... better then ash grey that shows sweat.  I see someone else said they wanted a color to make us standout at events.  The best color I ever saw was orange and yellow.  Not the pastels.  The real ones.  You don't get folks wearing them in a group often and you could easily spot members.  I think orange would be awesome!  We are the ga fiero club.  Ga has the peach.... so orange would be a cool choice to me!  Be very purpose based color with some meaning behind it.  Though I'm sure it's too late, but I thought I would throw it out there....

So I saw Tim yesterday and he filled me in on the shirts a bit more.  Any chace someone could post a pic of the prototype shirt so we could see it?  From what Tim described they logos seem quite small.  Just thinking out loud again... but if you are going with a pastel that blends into a crowd like the blue does.... would u not want the logo to at least stand out?  From what he is
describing i could wear my polo from my old dealership job and blend in with you guys from 5 feet away.  If u are going to go tame on the color least bring some bold with the logo by going bigger.  Would bigger logos cost more?  Also i here there are hats too?  Any pitures of those?

I thought we were going to put something up on the website with pictures of the merchandise.  I check every day for a link in the Club Merchandise section and haven't seen anything.  And speaking of the Club Merchandise section, I see we still have a 4 year old ad for the RFTH 13 video.

Yes, they did.  Pat is wearing one in the picture at the race track.  Light blue with the club logo embroidered and your name or username on the right chest or a sleeve.  You can order one from

Hey.  That's way better than the black shirts.  Would I need to tell them anything particular?  Just the name of the club, or a style number?

It's a husband/wife operation.  Kevin was a club member.  He knows what's needed.  Yes , you would need to tell him size, quantity and your mailing address  :)
