I think all of our older members know Robbie Finley and probably all of our newer members know who he is, but to give a little history, Robbie was in an accident 8 years ago this coming March. He was struck by a car and suffered massive physical and mental injuries, barely surviving.
Since that time, though some things have mended, he has fought a continual battle with infections in the left leg that was so badly mangled. They were able to reconstruct it enough that he could eventually walk without assistance but infections came and went. Well, they didn't entirely go away.
The infection has now gotten to the point that he has been admitted to Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga. He will be going into surgery soon, if it's not already in surgery. They will be removing his left leg above the knee. Plans are to later fit him with a prosthetic device.
You may have read some of his posts in this section and can see that his ability to be independent and do things like mowing and weed eating are major things for him, so this was a big decision for him to allow this, even with the severity of the infection.
Please keep him and his wife Gail in your thoughts and prayers.

Prayers and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

At 9:30PM last night Robbie was out of surgery and in recovery. If there are no complications he will be going to Siskin Rehab some time next week.
-
I talked with Robbie about an hour ago. He's doing well and in very good spirits. Sounded as if he's handled this very well without regrets.
-
Glad to hear this news!
-
Charlie, when you talk to Rob again, please give him my best wishes.
Thanks.

I talked with Robbie last night and he's progressing very well. He will be discharged from the rehab center on January 4. He will be fitted with a prosthesis within a few weeks afterward and may have to do a little more rehab in order to learn how to walk with it.
He's got a very positive attitude, a good sense of humor, and to top it off, he has quit smoking. He said that at $6 a pack savings he could do a lot to his Fiero.

I'm glad to read that he is doing well. The prosthetic limb will take some getting used to.
Less than a month on the smoking. I hope he can hold to not smoking. It'll be hard in the coming months. In the hospital and in rehab, smoking probably isn't allowed.
-
Robbie, you're out and driving?
-
I am still here and I drove my truck two days ago and I will drive my Fiero again one of these days soon, I am posting this useing my phone, but the spelling is not the best, but I am working on it too.
-
I'm glad to hear that.

Good for you Rob!
