My wife has wanted a convertible to drive around town for a long time(few years). I also wanted something that got better than 13mpg, as her SUV does. Well, me being cheap and never having a lot of spending money we had to wait until our taxes came back.
Well I had been looking for something in our price range for a while and couldn't find anything that was nice enough for her to drive. I wanted something that wouldn't give her (me) a lot of problems. So I just got the money and couldn't find anything nice or that wasn't a dog bed. Then a few days ago I was looking at Craigslist and ran across a 96 Extremely Modded Z3 that I had seen a few years ago when I was looking for a smaller car. It was now with another owner and he just had a baby and his wife told him to get rid of it AND he couldn't pass emissions with it since it had the EVAP system removed from it. Where we live we don't have emissions
I called him and went and bought it Sunday. WE LOVE this rocket.
It started out as a regular 1.9L 4cylinder Z3. Two owners back, the owner from Monroe(where I live), removed the 4cyl and slid in a S52 3.2L M3 engine (312HP), with a MZ3 tranny, brakes, suspension and other little MZ3 decorative things inside, changed the interior to suade with aftermarket seats and all the MZ3 gauges and dash accents added wheels and lowered the car. Oh also put a new roof on it.
The car is pretty much restored to be a MZ3 except it doesn't have the MZ3 wide rear fenders. But I don't mind cause without the wide fenders it was also without the extremely expensive price.
So anyways, it's SO MUCH fun and I am so happy I could talk the wife into it. Check it out->

Oh the wife is all smiles. Happy wife, happy life. She originally wanted me to tone down the dynomax mufflers. Said they are too loud. After two days of driving it, she now tells me she doesn't want me to put resonators on it, she likes it the way it is. LOL!

Yea, she has never minded my loud cars, but she doesn't like to ride in my cars due to the suspension quality, but now that it's her car and she has the racing seats that hold you still in the car, she doesn't mind the suspension or the exhaust cause everyone is looking at her pretty car now. LOL! She likes the attention. I mean, I would like the attention too.... :-)

Ummmm, I think you would have to pry it from my wife's dead hands. I have only driven it once since we got it. No telling when i get to drive it again.....

OMG! That is funny...
I'm not always "thoughtful", I just enjoy buying things for her when I can... I like giving more than receiving things like this, although I am jealous of my wifes car.... :-)

Yea, you said it. I work every Saturday till 2:30p and by the time I get to you guys at the cafe' yall are packing it in. I know it sucks but I just maintain the relationship here on the forum and when I can make it I do.... Work sucks that way. Luckily I get off at 2:30 instead of 5p. At least I have my evenings. I would love to show off her car. I don't know if I could get her to bring it, maybe if there is a huge show she might come but most of the time she's not int the cars..... But on the other hand, I never thought she would be into the loud exhaust until now.....LOL!
Oh, also I just ordered my first bit of vinyl. The next time you see the GT, I hope for it to be wrapped in Gloss Black. Should be at the house tomorrow. WooHoo....

Yea, I have watched MANY Youtube video's on how to do it. It's gonna be a trial and error kind of thing. But it can be laid and pulled back and laid again as you are applying it. So there is room for error during the process. It should be very similar to applying window Tint, possibly easier. I bought a new heat gun for it. :-)
