Howdy Folks,

Is there a way to recover the build sheet for a Fiero?  How was it originally equipped?

Did all 1988 GT's come with the "improved" handling?

The RPO sticker on the driver's side inner front fender (under the hood) has codes for all options the car came with. See this page (http://fierosails.com/OptionCodes.html) for an explanation of the codes.
All 88's have a new suspension -- what the engineers wanted to put on the car from the beginning, instead of the hand-me-down parts they had to use on previous years.

The new suspension Pat mentions is what many refer to as improved handling.  It did greatly improve handling on all 88 models as compared to the suspension on comparable pre-88 models. 

I don't know if they are still available from the Pontiac Archives, but at one time you could purchase a copy of the original window sticker if you had the VIN number.  That along with the RPO sticker would tell you most things about the car.

and what is a YT1 Built-up, custom door and quarter?

YT1 could be the aero trim, or possibly refers to some of the graphics that was available.

Are the codes for the springs. The first number (6, 7, 8, or 9, which indicates at which corner of the car the spring is located) gets replaced by a letter.
The _PH indicates the front springs.
The _UC indicates the rear springs. If you look at the tag on your rear springs (if you can still read it) it should have PUC (which is the actual spring code) stamped on it. I forget what the first letter of the front spring code is supposed to be.

2PG97 indicates the carline, year, and body style, IIRC.
