I'm not sure if this rant belongs here, or in general?
Called SPEC clutch, based on pff glowing recommendations, to order a throw out bearing spacer. No answer, so I emailed from their website with a description of what I needed. Somebody responded within the hour and said they had what I needed in stock and ready to ship. I thought GREAT!
I called again a couple hours later to order what they said they had and the guy who finally answered the phone heard me say "fiero" and asked me to call back for Jeremy in ten minutes. I thought GREAT again because I assumed he had me order from Jeremy because he's s an expert or something and that almost counteracted my bad feelings about them not answering the first time, but I was put off by being asked to call back.
So, i call back and introduced myself and described what I was putting together and Jeremy huffed, like he was rolling his eyes kind of huff. He said he has nothing like that in stock and would have to make the spacer custom order and he doesn't understand why there other guy passed me off to him. About this time, I realized that probably the other guy passed me off to Jeremy because he didn't want to deal with it and Fieros are a big inside joke to them, judging by their reaction. At that point, I said thank you and hung up.
Jeremy called me back immediately and scolded me for hanging up on him, then tried to smooth things over, but I was irritated and told him so and he kept trying to continue a sale. I got pissed and told him I'll make my own and that we're done here, then hung up again.
What a jerk.
Now, it's entirely possible i misread the entire exchange and I'm the jerk. I dunno.
All I know is that SPEC will not get my money.

If you have dimensional specs for what you need, I can have our machine shop make it.

Thanks Fierofool. I have a shop here I'll try first, That's if my homebrew concoction doesn't work.

If everyone carried an AR-15 with a 100 round magazine but only one person shoots up a mall or school, should everyone's gun be taken away?

Spec. Yeah... Imagine my surprise. ::)

Care to elaborate?

I had a Spec 2 clutch in my 3.4 car. It chattered when it was cold and slipped when it was hot. POS.
A lot of people on Pennocks were using the 3+. There are numerous instances of the springs escaping from the center hub, and getting stuck under the release fingers, or elsewhere. (Many of these failures are 3800 SCs, but not all.)
When they first started doing clutches for Fieros, they were installing the splined centers in the hubs backwards. The result was that the protruding hub would hit the input shaft sleeve, and mushroom the end of it, causing the release bearing to bind on the sleeve, or just breaking the sleeve.
(The later Getrags and New Venture 5 speeds didn't have that issue, because they had the hydraulic release bearings. There was no sleeve for the hub to hit.)
Of course, people were pizzed, and complained. Spec would warranty their parts, assuming they were returned in time. Otherwise they'd tell the people to go pound sand. They would NOT warranty the damaged transaxles though.
Then there was the F23 spacer fiasco that many people have run into. I don't know all the details of that, but overextended release bearings for F23s are a common complaint. You'd think they'd have this stuff down to a science now, but they seem to only be interested in shipping parts, but not doing anything to learn about the applications they're shipping for.
Of course, that's one person's opinion. Some other people I know who have Spec pieces are quite happy.
Edit - This whole Spec "cluster fest" is why I run a Fiero Store HD Ram clutch in my 4.9 car. No way in hell...

If your guy is willing to do these, there is a fairly common need. Might be something that the club can offer.
With that said, I'm not sure that all of the installations would require the same thickness. (I haven't done an F23, so I can't really talk intelligently about it, but I do know that overextended release bearings are a common occurrence.
