You are quite welcome.  I am glad we could help and thank you too for your help and hospitality.  Soon you will be driving a Fiero that attracts looks and tickets ;-)

Thank you, Roger, Steve, Dave, Tom, Pat for showing your Georgia Fiero Club spirit and giving of yourselves, your spare parts and your time to help put someone's Fiero back on the road.  Thanks Tom and Dave for returning today to finish the brake installation.

Thanks for y'all's hospitality!
That's really a very nice car. Hope it's road worthy, in short order.

To bring everyone up to date on what was going on, the above mentioned members paid a surprise visit to Dewey Reeder, aka OldOne, on Saturday, August 20.  The purpose was to address some issues with his 86GT that he's never really gotten to drive.

There was a problem with the headlights not working, the instrument panel wasn't functioning properly, there were no brakes and it has a bad exhaust leak.  Everyone set in to work on the areas they were comfortable with, and soon the instrument cluster had been disposed of, along with it's spiderweb of Previous Owner wiring, and a donated replacement cluster was installed.

Off-the-wall headlight relays, also from the Previous Owner, were replaced with the proper relays and the motors began to run, but revealed that the gears in both motors were in need of replacement.  The Club has ordered new Rodney Dickman Gear sets and the motors will be rebuilt within the week.  They will likely be installed within the next week.

The brakes were non-existent.  The club purchased rebuilt rear calipers and two club members returned on Sunday to install them.  Both front brake lines were leaking at the banjo bolt, and those two items were also handled on Sunday afternoon.  The brakes aren't at their optimum, but no one has to be afraid to go down Dewey's driveway in the car.

The exhaust manifold was leaking at the #2 cylinder port.  Dewey has ordered the manifold gaskets and I understand that he will deliver the car to a nearby member who has a lift, and they will fix the exhaust leak.  The car could probably use a tuneup at the same time.

But at the moment it runs and it stops.  Just a few steps away from having it back on the road, full time.

Excellent!
I'm happy to hear that there was nothing really "mysterious" about the brakes or other issues. It sounded that way, to begin with.

I hope Dewey will be able to join us for events, in the not-too-distant future.

Dewey, what's the word on the manifold gasket replacement.  Was the garage successful?

What was the reason for it shutting down on the way over to the garage?
