Title: My Fiero boo-boo
Post by: TopNotch on August 31, 2016, 08:27:03 pm
Some you know that I had a minor accident in my silver car. An extremely slick road caused me to meet a guard rail. Here's what it looked like afterwards:

The car drove just fine after this, but the turn signals and brake lights didn't work. After removing the bumper cover and headlight bucket, I found out why:

Not shown in the picture is damage to the blue wire also. I'm guessing that the metal that did this (now "adjusted" out of the way with a BFH) not only cut the black wire, but short out the blue wire.
And when I removed the bumper cover, I found that the car had no "egg crate" underneath. I bet the damage would have been less if it had one.
Fortunately, I have that white Formula that our grandkid no longer wants, and it has a good nose, bumper, and egg crate. So I'll have the car back together before too long.

While you have the nose off it, would be a good time to pull that upper core support back into place.  I think that's why the hood wouldn't close afterward.  It may be something that can be unbolted and replaced with the one from Paul's collection.  I don't think it hurt the frame rail.

Ouch. I'm happy that you at least didn't get hurt.
