TFS sells one, and so does westcoastfieros
How do they compare to each other, and to stock?
-
I haven't seen WCF's unit so can't comment. I have a TFS unit (coated) and it is very nice and wasn't too hard to install. I did have to go to Ace for some hardware though. The bolts to attach the Y to the CC (or testing pipe) were too short from TFS. I feel certain that either are much better than stock. Worth the extra for the coating too I believe. The engine compartment seems a touch cooler than before using the coated pipe. No more heat shield in the way either!

The coating will help tremendously, to reduce underhood temps, vs a "naked" Y-pipe.
This is especially important if your car is an 88, since it normally has that insulation crimped around it. The aftermarket one probably won't.
To directly answer your question...
I wouldn't buy anything from WCF, unless there was no other option. In spite of what they will tell you, they generally don't stock most of what they sell. It's mostly built to order.
People who get good service from WCF are the people who live within driving distance. Go figure.
But I'm not cynical.
TFS typically has very good service. Their shipping is kind of spendy, however.

Thank you both. I was afraid I'd get no response. Flow-wise, how does the TFS one compare to stock? My understanding is that the stock pipe is restrictive.
You may have answered another question, about the heat issue, but I want to clarify. I'm replacing my Y-pipe, obviously, and I have an 88. Since I'll be losing the heat shield, will the coating suffice, or do I need to wrap?
-
The coating will work as well as the wrap. Been there.
Had coated headers and Y-pipe on mine, with no heat shields or wrap, and it was just fine.
The stocker is fairly restrictive. Flows about enough to "get by". I have heard from other people that the Fiero Store Y pipe was nicely "doctored".
I cannot speak from experience, however.

Here's the Y-pipe from TFS:

Very pretty. If that's the same coating that I used (or something similar) it's amazing.
-
It was their pic. I didn't get one while they were available.
What coating did you use?
-
I use these guys.

They are local to me, and much less expensive than Jet Hot. (I think that's the name.)
They also ship.
