Title: How to connect winaldl to 84?
Post by: f85gtron on January 22, 2017, 03:07:12 pm
I can't figure out how to get aldl data from 84 pcm?  Tuner pro doesn't have the file for it and winaldl doesn't have correct pcm option. Anybody have experience with this?

I don't know how often Cowspatoot browses the forum.  Last time he logged in was in June last year, but you might contact him through email.  He's delved into the 84 pretty heavily and might be able to help.

I'll check with cowspatoot. Thanks for the recommendation.
Scott, I can connect to the 2.8 pcms with both winaldl and tuner pro. I might be able to help. Explain your routine and I'll see if i can help. Start with hardware. What are you using?

What kind cable? Homemade? Single, or dual, or max232 chipset?
Also, anything except 85 year gt needs a 10k resistor jumped between a and b to get data flowing.
Tuner pro:
You'll need the correct .adx or .ads file to read your ecm. Probably need $24 code mask ads. Or adx. If using stock v6 ecm.

Scott, would it have possibly been Timm (phonedawgz) at RedRiver?  I know he builds lots of cables and harnesses.  He also has some tuner programs.

It appears to be a single transistor serial cable. Should be sufficient. Winaldl will probably work just fine and be simpler to get started with. Tuner pro is a tuning program, so it has three different smaller "apps" that you have to load in it to see, read, and change data.
If your wanting to take up tuning, stick with Tuner pro. , if you only want to read your car, use winaldl.
Which car are you wanting to gather data from?  Year and engine?

Use this .adx for tuner pro.  It's all you need to connect to your ecm and see data, datalog.

Thank you Ron. I will play with it later this week.

I might have to learn some of the tuning aspects. I was looking at the 7730 information over last weekend. I am getting really really tired of that stinking EGR code showing up.

I am also very interested in going to OBDII with a hopped up 3100. I have the complete engine, wiring harness and ecm already. Want to learn OBDII?

Thanks, Scott
