yesterday(4/20/09) i spotted two fieros in a junk yard. the junk yard is on 411 on the way to rome. i stopped and went in the office and talked to the owners a mama and junior(in his 30's).i started asking questions and junior took over the conversation. he said he had an 84 and 85 out in the yard. somebody had left a deposit deposir on the 84 about a month ago. he said both cars were 4 cyl and 4 speeds and "SE's.he then said that fiero motors were painted 3 different colors when they came from the factory. red motors had 260hp,blue had 205hp and black had 175hp. in 1988 they only made two models, both were GT'S , one looked like a ferrari, and the other GT looked just like the "84" model. at that point i couldn't listen to anymore and left. oldone in c'ville

I bet your face was beet red just from trying to keep from laughing. I might have to make a special trip down that way. Just to see if they have any red engines sitting around.

While we were at the swap meet, Dewey and I found out that the guy wasn't so far off with the 3 engines. Of 6 facts he quoted, 2 of them were correct. Rainey Fritz was passing out a Fiero Facts sheet and it documented that there were 3 different color engines.
There was a black one, a silver one, and a red one. The man in Cartersville said they were blue, black and red. Of course he was wrong on the 3 horsepower ratings he quoted to Dewey, but he did get 2 of the engine colors correct, those being black and red.
The 84 block was silver and 85 and up 4-cylinder blocks were black. All V6 engines had the red intake and valve covers.
