I need some tribal knowledge...."cleaning" up my pile of ..... stuff, and I came across 2 front rotors and 3(?) rear rotors. Are the specs the same? The fronts mic'd at .430, are those boat anchors? 2 rears mic'd out at .510 and 1 was .450. What say the tribe?
-
The front and rear are (Edit: NOT) the same specs. The minimum cut may be inside the bonnet.
-
scott the min. spec number should be cast inside the hat.
-
I know '88 rotors are the same, but I am curious if the other rotors are the same.
-
I found my 84 factory service manual, it says. 44 minimum. The front rotors say 9.5mm, which converts to .375, .065 less than the factory spec. I think I will stick with factory specs and toss these. There is no spec cast into the rear rotors. I also found a set of rear calipers if anyone wants to try to rebuild them.

Scott, I will eventually use some of the corvette brakes and rotors I have and have extra sets, If ya wanna STEP UP, trade some if ya want.
-
I was wrong. I would have thought that the front rotor would have at least been thicker if not equal, since it's the one that does most of the stopping.
Rear Rotor:
Discard Thickness (mm): 10.9
Initial Thickness (mm): 12.6
Front Rotor:
Discard Thickness (mm): 9.5
Initial Thickness (mm): 11.1

I've got a full set of 88 rotors. I haven't mic'd them, but they don't look badly worn.
If anyone wants them, come get 'em. Or I can bring them to a meeting.

Thanks John, but I dont think I am going to mess with the brakes
