Title: What leaks oil front center?
Post by: pgackerman on October 14, 2018, 04:11:20 pm

Discovered something that looks suspiciously like oil on my garage floor.

The weird thing is it's up front, slightly on the passenger side of center.

Couldn't think of anything oil-like that might be in that area.  Looked underneath and spotted a wet area.  Maybe from the AC?  But I figured any leak from the AC would evaporate.

What's causing the leak?

Answer below.

Ready for the answer?  Did you think about the question first?  Maybe some joints and/or brake fluid?  Did you come up with the spare quart of oil I carry next to the spare  ::)

Ugh.  At least it was simple.

Great question and answer.  At least you were brave enough to give us the solution.  Two thumbs up for you.

Seriously, I kept wondering what's up front that could be leaking a clean, oil like substance.  I put lubricant on the headlights when I rebuilt them, but there was to much "stuff" for the leak to be from that.  BTW, the oil was stored on the driver's side.  Guess I have a mess to clean up.

Glad I had it wrapped in two plastic bags.

You carry around a quart of oil in 2 plastic bags.  Of course it will leak!  Usually, an oil bottle works best.  :)

Seriously, you probably aren't the first, and won't be the last.
