My steering rack is mechanically spot on but aesthetically not so good. This is mostly due to the body of the rack which I painted black about 16 years ago.
I have had a delve through Google pictures and it looks like the standard finish is silver? Is this silver paint or just the unpainted metal? I am tempted to clean it all up and just leave it bare but with a coat of acf50 to protect.

I've never seen a new one, but all the others have weathered and look like they were originally bare metal. You might clean it really good and coat it with a clear epoxy or other durable finish.

Thanks for info FF. Think I will go with that as the plan.

How did this turn out?

I cleaned it up and then coated in acf 50. Looks good.
I also have wheels now and hopefully centre caps by tomorrow. Then MOT test when time permits and the road!
I already have a full list of Fiero jobs for the winter.

Thinking of doing something similar with mine.
