Title: Positive battery cable

Another noob question. Where do I connect the "not" battery end of the positive cable? It's too short to go all the way to the starter.

Get another cable. It has to go from the battery to the starter. (I assume you mean the large diameter cable, not the smaller one coming off the battery terminal.)
