Title: Harry's 85/86 GT
Post by: scottb on January 01, 2020, 09:36:20 pm: Charlie and I went to pick up Harry's 85 GT today. That was an adventure to say the least. It was sitting at the bottom of the hill, only way to get to it would be to back the trailer down then pull it on the trailer by hand with a come-a-long. Not smart in my older and wiser mind. I suggested to pull the car up the hill, drive the trailer in and use gravity to let it roll on the trailer. The much older and much much wiser gentlemen agreed. Harry pulled the car up the hill no problem. I got the trailer spotted behind the car. Charlie got in to work the brakes and steering. Took it loose from the tow vehicle, Charlie let off of the brakes, and.......... nothing. Pads have rusted to the rotors and it wont roll on its own. Out comes the come-a-long and we start winching it up on the trailer. As it was loaded on the trailer:
Charlie and I thank Harry once again and head back for Georgia. Slightly exceeding the speed limit on I-85, I look back in the mirrors and see steam pouring out from under my Expedition. Looking for a place to pull over all I see is guard rail and a very narrow shoulder. Finally see a break in the guard rail and pull over to find this: A cobbled up heater hose repair by a previous owner blew apart, pouring out water and leaving us stranded. Luckily Jason Spencer lives in that area and was able to come help us. A trip to the local AutoZone and we were back on the road. Thank you Jason. Lunch next week is on me. More pictures to follow

Dash looks pretty good

mmmmmmmmm headers

Whatever this means

EGR block off plate

Slight damage on the left rear. I think Paul can buff that out, I believe he has the proper buffer

I dont think this spot on the hood will buff out

Thats all I have for now. Need to put a battery in it and see if it will run

Look! A wing!

It has headers? Dunno about the crossover pipe. That ignition coil is...not stock. There is some odd wiring on the left side of the engine bay.

Good thing Budgetman72 was there to help.

Uncommon as chicken lips, these days.
Those, and a well ported intake (like Dawg's), should really wake up a 3.4 (or a 3.1, for that matter.)

It sat in the back of his driveway for ages before Harry bought it. For it to roll up like that, probably poor prep work was done and maybe wrong primer used. I think it's also been sitting outside at Harry's for at least 3 or 4 years.

That's certainly my guess. Not sure why not do the job right, if spending the money.

When I saw it (I think before Warren had it) it was very nice. Very.

I know he came to the meetings after we moved up the street from The Pie because I have a picture somewhere of it in the parking lot with everyone else. That might have been around '04 or '05? And yes, it did look nice.
