Title: Sunroof Storage D Strips
Post by: Fierofool on January 20, 2020, 10:04:14 pm
Vehicles equipped with a factory sunroof have rubber strips on an accessory support and also on the front compartment lid that cushion and prevent the sunroof glass from bouncing when it's in it's stored position.  These strips come off in time due to deterioration of the mounting tape or they get damaged and come apart.  Vehicles that have been converted to a sunroof don't have these strips, but may have them only on the support shelf.  There would be nothing on the compartment lid.  To refresh or install, these D strips may be a good replacement.  Not quite the size of the factory units, but would likely serve the purpose.  I don't know what lengths it comes in.  I couldn't find that information.

I had thought that TFS carried these, but couldn't find them on the TFS site.

Someone on PFF posted that TFS had discontinued them.  That's where I got the website from.  Tha Driver provided it except the one he listed was a little smaller in width and height.  The one on the decklid is a D seal.  The one on the support ledge is a flat piece.

Good find. I'm thinking they'll be very close.
I think I have seen "camper shell" tape that looks like the strips on the lower ledge/support.

Yes, the camper shell tape is very similar.  I used it on my Dodge truck.  It had an over-the-rail bed liner.  When I removed it to clean dust and debris from underneath, I found that it was chafing the paint on the rail.  I lined the rail with the tape and in the 15 years I owned it, the paint was still good.  Seems like it came in rolls of about 25 ft.
