I have these heat shields from...somewhere. The shields are great, but they'd be even better if I knew where they went.
-
The two on the bottom are from an 85-87 exhaust Y-pipe.
The top one? Not sure. Doesn't look like anything I have.
-
Maybe back by the cat? Could be that the oil dipstick goes through it.
-
If you dont know where they go why did you buy them. Usually when I have but something I have a good idea as to where I am going to use them
-
Well, sometimes I get a bunch of parts. In the case of these parts, I wanted a sample set of exhaust logs. The seller was offering a bunch of parts. I offered to buy just the logs, and he could sell the rest separately. He sold me the logs, but sent everything. I offered to send these back kalong with some other items that came with the logs), but he responded that he wanted some particular parts I had. So, I sent him the parts he wanted.
Sometimes, people show up, looking for particular things. They leave exchange parts...or not. A few days ago, I found a box of parts in my carport. No name, but I think I know whom. When I had my '86 Fiero, I accumulated a bunch of parts for it, but sold it without most of the parts. I later gave away the GT wheels, but people are still sending me brown steering wheels and things. My current Fiero has a grey interior, so the parts are of no help to me now.
I have also found that I can often trade people for things they will not sell. I had a factory power steering unit, for a while. People will trade almost anything for that.
Research for the newsletters has caused me to accumulate lots of Fiero parts. Some of these parts go back and forth betwen myself and other people. A headlight motor, for example, went to a guy in another state, for testing. Eventually, I'll get it back. I no longer own a Gen 1 Fiero, so the motor does not help me. I had a brand new distributor. My Fiero does not use a distributor, but I needed pics. Someone grabbed the distributor, the other day. Eventually, something will show up in its place.

The big one bolts to the trunk wall. It was discontinued in 87. Tha dipstick for the automatic comes up through the big hole.
-
That occurred to me, but I thought it was a 2-piece shield, and that there was a separate punchout. Where is there a horizontal mounting surface for that to bolt to? Or, is the cooling tube thing the mounting surface?

...
Okay. That explains why I couldn't identify it. My only "earlier" cars were both manuals.
-
I think the shield is still present, but the hole isn't punched out.
-
It isn't a punched hole. It's a u-shaped bracket attached to the wall. The mounts aren't there for the 87 and 88. My 86 5-speed has it but I noticed the 87 didn't have it and thought the muffler shop removed it The one on the 86 doesn't have the complete dipstick hole punched out. I obtained one from Scott's parts car but couldn't install it because there were no mounting points. That one came from a 4-speed car and the dipstick hole isn't fully open on it, either.
I just found the PFF thread about the shields. http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/137043.html

Hmmm. Would these work on your Fiero?
-
They would all work on the 86. The big one wouldn't work on the 87.

I found that thread (http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/137043.html).
