Many of you have endured the saga (ad nauseum) of our move from D-ville to "way out in the effin' country".
We're still getting settled, and still living out of boxes and bins.
But I finally got around to taking a pic from "the new place".

And one from another angle.

As long as you can pee off of the front porch its perfect...... no HOA makes it much more better

I see the wifey fenced you off from the house.
I'm all for more better.
I've lived here for 10 years. Still living out of the boxes.

That's actually to keep the dogs in.
One of them is deaf as a post. If she gets out, she'll never hear us calling her.

Needs more Fieros.

Needs more Fieros.
If he is not careful that will be arranged
-
I see our hamburgers and steaks for the club cookout being prepped way back there in the background.
Ain't it nice not to hear anything but the crickets at night?
-
Are the cicadas out there?
-
BTW, Raydar, I wasn't intending to come off critically. Congrats on getting the place.

Michael, I didn't take it that way. Not at all. We really do have a deaf dog. We really worry about her getting loose. But that will get fixed (the getting loose part) all in due time.
We haven't heard any cicadas or crickets, that I've noticed. We do hear a lot of tree frogs. Oh... and coyotes.
And yeah... burgers on the hoof. At least at this point. (There are 13 more in various stages of "assembly". :D )
I was thinking that a club picnic could be had down here, but it's so far out in the country that we have to have sunlight piped in.
Not sure how many people would be willing to make the pilgrimage. (It's 15 minutes south of Carrollton. Or about a half hour from the Villa Rica exit -Hwy 61 @ I-20- to here.)
And we're about to tear a bunch of stuff up for destruction/construction, so that may be a while.
Edit - The other Fiero is in the garage, behind the white one. Tammy's Miata is in the other side. (The Miata was not living outside.)

How about whipporwills?

How about whipporwills?
Yes! Absolutely! We heard one, a few nights ago, moving around and "calling". Moved to several different trees.
We also have tons of bluebirds and cardinals. And a few hummingbirds. (We're trying to attract those.)
-
I miss whipporwills. The hummingbirds were cool, until I realized that barn swallows can also hover.
Did you move your grey Fiero, yet?

The gray Fiero has been here pretty much since we have. The white one stayed on the driveway, next to the old house, so that it (sort of) looked like someone might be there. We closed on Friday. Went on Friday morning and picked it up.
Barn swallows can hover?
We've seen some big freakin' hummingbirds. Almost "rumble" when they hover. Never considered that they might not actually be hummingbirds. We just thought the hummingbirds were doing 'roids, or something.

If you're hearing Katydids at night, I know you have hardwood trees around you. Same with Tree Frogs. Katydids frequent hardwoods only and I think the same for Tree Frogs. Lots of grass around so you should hear crickets, too.
Cicadas or Seven Year Locusts or as we call them in the south, July Flies, mostly sing in the daytime. If you're trying to attract Bluebirds, they like their nests in the edge of the tree line. I believe they also prefer the opening be oriented to the East, if possible. Usually, the average residential lot can only support one Bluebird House due to their claim to territory.

Bluebirds
We are probably hip-deep in bluebirds here.
The breezeway that goes between the house and the garage is home to at least two bluebird nests.
We would be perfectly fine with that, except for all of the bird poop all over everything close to the nests.
As soon as they're done raising the most recent clutch of babies, the nests are "done". (We're certainly not about to interrupt them, otherwise.)
We don't hear much of anything at night, except for the tree frogs. And when they calm down, the coyotes.
-
Mites by the nests?

There is something about a white Fiero! They just seem to pop. I like those wheels.

Technically speaking you can pee of the front porch no matter where you live! I agree on the HOA

They are the identical wheels to the ones on the AeroDon car. Same sizes and offsets, I believe.

The HOA in our former neighborhood was nearly non-existent. Very unobtrusive. The dues were ~$75 a year. Used to keep up the entrance and the (very uncommon) common property.
But yeah... I've heard the horror stories. Not ever gonna do that again.
