The car looks very nice, and the price certainly seems reasonable.

If anyone from down there goes to take a look at this Fiero, stop by here on the way.  I'm at the halfway mark (sortof), if you take the no tolls route.  From experience, I can state that Iowa is a better way to go than Illinois.  Iowa has open gas stations and restaurants, meaning you can use the restrooms, and you can eat.

On the face of it, that car looks much nicer than the one that I bought a couple of years ago, for my swap project.
Wheels and paint appear to be nicer. Interior is nicer. Probably doesn't need the entire suspension and brakes redone...

It is an MN, car, though...

Guessing you're alluding to the possibility of rust...
That may be true, but he showed pictures of the trunk walls. What he showed looked really good. (I try to take pictures, higher up on the sides, however.)
I asked him a couple questions in the Pennocks thread. He overlooked (or ignored) one of them. ("Does it have A/C?")

Yes, rust.  $2K is for a good base coupe.  If no rust, likely worth that.

It seems like ignoring that question.  You asked twice.  That having been stated, I miss things regularly.

I had showed that thread to the wife and she commented on your fat boy needs A/C post, and I was like I totally know that guy.

I zoomed in on the climate control panel and it appears to have AC.  The non-AC cars only have sliders for temperature control and heat, vent, defrost, etc.

This car could be turned into a Formula (no, I don't need another one), and if you wanted to put a 7730 ECM in to support a 3.4, it already has the proper mounting bracket for that ECM.

To turn it into a Formula, it would need a rear sway bar, some decals, a V6 ECU, a V6, AUX gauges, and ...?

I am hoping to finally get my cradle out in August and will have a v6, ECU, and such available. The motor is acting up but once it is out I will have a better idea of what would be needed to get it up and going again.

I thought I saw a button, above the temperature slider, but I couldn't be sure. And he wasn't answering...

Which is exactly what I'm doing with mine. I've already rebuilt and upgraded the suspension and brakes, including springs, struts, bushings, and the sway bar.  (My coupe has essentially the same suspension and brakes as my fastback car.)
Already upgraded the instruments. Have an engine on a dolly in my garage. (If that engine works out, I anticipate having another one for sale. Hint-hint, Larry.)
Don't care anything about decals.

Just don't have the room to work on it, just now. That will hopefully get remedied by fall.

Doesn't mean the AC works.

Yeah, can't wait to see the ghost up and running.

I downsized.  Got rid of the Avalanche, the 1-ton, and a beater.  I may sell the LTD.  Still looking for a manual transmission car.

He sent me 15 extra pics of it to my phone.  Shots of both trunk sides and underneath look pretty good with minimal small orange spots.   Paint is thin on the roof and possibly engine cover, hard to tell with the snorkels throwing shadows on it.  Interior looks good, seats nice, funny not having the aux gauges in the center.   Replacement steering wheel is OK.  It has a lot of miles on it, if one was planning a swap its a great candidate.  Hard to get into an 88 for less.  Trying to avoid a full on build now.  Coudl be a good one for one of the kinds coming up to driving age in a few years if not for all the miles.

Did you get an answer on the AC?

Not sure the miles are a problem.

I am tempted to show you before and after pics of my coupe, but I don't want to completely hijack your thread.
Mine was essentially identical to this one, except for it being white instead of black, and having the stock "salad shooter" wheels, which I now can't even give away. :D
I rebuilt the entire suspension (including ball joints, poly bushings, and shocks and struts) with the exception of the rack, which seemed fine; and refurbed/upgraded the brakes. (I installed Corvette rotors, but retained the Fiero calipers. I replaced the pads on one end, if I remember correctly.)
I also installed a rear sway bar. It was kind of labor intensive (bushings suck), but I don't think I have over $300 in all the suspension pieces.
The engine? It leaked so badly, that I called it the Fiero Valdez. It runs good, but leaked oil from every imaginable seam and orifice. I replaced the valve cover gasket, timing cover and crank seal, as well as the belt tensioner (which the pulley had worn a groove in the timing cover.) It's not perfect, now, but much better.
I should mention that, since I was looking for a "swap victim", a running car was not a requirement. But after fixing (most of) the leaks, it runs so good, that I'm content to just drive it until I'm ready to do the swap.

Did you get an answer on the AC?

Yes it does have air, I could see it in the front compartment shot.  Do not know if it works.

I thought that was your question to him.

I thought that was your question to him.

Whether it had air was my question.
He answered in the Pennocks thread that "everything works", but he seemed to be kind of dodgy when people tried to nail him down.

With that said... When I was shopping for mine, I was mostly concerned that it was an original "factory A/C" car. The fact that it actually worked, once it was charged, was a very pleasant surprise.

My take on it is that if it is (or was) originally equipped with A/C, it can be fixed, even if it's not working.

Probably, but yes, he seemed to stop replying.

He still has it, he's in the process of moving.  He mentioned he needed to change the clutch slave cylinder, I think.  I told him I'm still shopping around.
