The run is always the last Saturday of December. This year, that happens to be the day after Christmas.
From the GTA website.
21st Polar Bear Run. December 26th or Boxing Day for all the Commonwealth folks. We will gather at Hwy 9 and Mansell Rd in Roswell behind the Starbucks (10800 Alpharetta Hwy #502, Roswell, GA 30076) and wheels up will be at 9.30.
Destination this year will be Blue Ridge GA and the route will entail 85 miles of very scenic roads with one potty stop. There are a multitude of restaurants in Blue Ridge and surrounding area and there may even be a side visit to Grumpy Old Men Brewery.
We again are raising money for A.L.S. and donations while not required are very welcome.
Weather alternate date January 2nd.
-
No interest?
-
You might add this to the calendar.
-
No go for me this year.
-
Unfortunately day after Christmas we have another party to go to. I’m not allowed to relax during a holiday it seems...
-
Multiplicity, dude.
-
I would just go but the alternative gets expensive especially when the divorce lawyers get involved. 😂
-
I would like a front page picture for the newsletter in portrait format. Cars at the bottom, plenty of sky on top.
Portrait format has the long side vertical.

Every time I read the GTA part, an entirely different thing comes to mind.

I regret to say that I will not b able to participate in the Polar Bear Run. My kids have contracted the Covid Virus. My son-in-law tested positive on Wednesday. My daughter is now developing symptoms. The granddaughter is fine, so far.
I don't think I was around them while they were developing, but that isn't why I can't go. On Tuesday I had an epidural to help relieve my back pain. It worked very well and I was up and around. Until Yesterday. Because our Christmas celebration has been delayed, I delivered my family's presents to their front porch yesterday afternoon. That was too much and I am back down again and in pain.
Someone please go on the run and take lots of pictures with your phone in the portrait position. Michael has the article written for the feature of the January newsletter and he needs a front-page picture as well as article pictures.
The word I have this morning is that the Polar Bear Run for 2020 is still on for Saturday, December 26.
-
Hope you are b up and around soon, Fierofool, and that the COVID symptoms are mild.
Have fun on the run.
-
Charlie, please take care. Stay healthy. Prayers for the kids. I hope they feel better quickly.
Everyone else, be careful on the roads. I've been hearing about snow, up in the northern elevations. (We got zip, down here.)
-
Supposed to be up around the mid 40's later in the day and into tomorrow. Anyone who goes, stay back in the lineup and let the frontrunners find any bad stuff first.
Thanks, Steve. Staying glued to the recliner and close to my Tramadol. Kids say they are sore in their joints, headache, and slight fevers but not alarmed, yet.
Forgoing celebrating with my sister and brothers because of the back and just in case I might be asymptomatic.
If you go and looking for a place to eat, there's a steakhouse at 4004 E 1st St, Blue Ridge, GA 30513 that we've used on one of the runs. Pretty good food. There's also a microbrewery just down the street if you don't visit the one GTA mentioned.

I may not be able to go. I have a bad ingrown toenail, and it hurts to wear shoes. I'm not sure if I want to drive the whole things in sandals.
-
TopNotch, I got a few pairs of vise grips if you need my assistance???
-
Angle grinder here. Happy to help!
-
Do we have anyone who is still planning to go?
-
I’m being told I met my 2020 family functions quota and I can go but...
-
You have a quota?
I usually do the family stuff, but often drag the family along. The Fiero events I attend are typically the things that do not conflict with family events.

I have some cutoff wheels but I'm not sure if they are for meat and bone. Should work, though. Says they'll cut steel.
-
I think Gabe said he was going.
-
I have pics from past runs from the same parking lot if they should be needed to get the newsletter out.

I have something called a "nail extractor".
-
You know what might work? I got a catfish skinner. 👍🏻
-
I just verified with the wife, I will be there tomorrow for the run. See everyone bright and early.
-
I’ve got a kitchen pass. I will be there. I assume it’s gonna cost me dearly but 🤷🏻♂️
-
Excellent!

I've got a corkscrew thing. You just screw in into something, and is extracts a cone-shaped piece.

Come to think of it, a potato-peeler would work, if the part for removing the potato eyes was used.

There was an amazing turnout. So many cool cars. A few new but a lot of old. My favorite was an old blue Porsche SC I believe. The route in theory was great but I do have a few gripes.
The directions were printed out, I took this as a lesson that we should make google maps that we can share so we are all on the same route.
That brings me to the next one, I know not much could be done about it but rolling out was confusing. Hard to line up and we left in stages. Gabe and I missed the first turn and had to loop back. The lesson is we should, on larger runs, have someone direct people to line up and stage groups leaving. Just getting into line was hard.
Lastly was the ice. We had too many close calls. Gabe almost became unintentional best friends with a Mini Cooper and I went sideways... skid marks not just on the road. Yes I understand that it couldn’t really be helped but if I knew how bad it was I would’ve abstained from the run. Too many people had no clue how to handle the ice and it’s not worth risking my life because of their inexperience.
I know a lot of gripes but I wanted everyone to know what to potentially expect and some good lessons to learn.
I sent GTRS Fiero some photos but I’ll post my absolute favorite with zero bias.
-
Why does it look as if your Fiero has a big oil puddle under it?
-
Having been on a number of runs, there are several problems. We can discuss offline, but as a baseline, the Fall color tour was fine. Directions were provided, but not my thing. Since we were both on that...
Anyway, I have been on runs that were very good, and on a run after which I had words with the organizer, and everything between.
-
Not oil, long drive, don’t judge me. 😂

Gabe and I talk about much more than that but yes we will be covering that at the next meeting.

Looks like a good job on the spoiler install.
Sometimes their Polar Bear Runs have multiple routes you can take. Route A, Route B or more. Usually, we follow some of the Triumphs who should know the way, but then we meet a group coming in the opposite direction and it makes one wonder if they're going the right way. That happened on one occasion when we departed from the same location you were at.

Thank you. I measured about a million times. The install was easy. I did a write up for GTRS, should be February I think. The truck torsion rod adjustments.... that wasn’t fun at all. Thank god a friend showed up and helped.

I'd like to steal this photo, too, to get a daylight pic of the spoiler. The night-time pics don't look as good.

Go for it.

Thanks.

You playing GTA V online? I play it almost every day, & have made a LOT of races/tracks over the years.

No. Haven't played GTA for years, and then only briefly.
