So I came across an 88 formula auto. I’m in love but not sure if I should get another and if it’s worth it. I have not driven it yet but he assures me it runs and little to no rust. Thoughts? Oh. He said he’d take $3k
Does anyone know this guy or the car?

I'm not familiar with the car, but it's a little rough on the outside for 97000 miles. The paint's bad and looks like the right front fender is damaged. Lots of paint flaking on the upper intake. That usually doesn't happen on low mileage engines unless it's been in an adverse environment. As for rust, I'd have to examine the frame rails for myself and not take a seller's word for it.

Not worth $3960 unless these cars have appreciated greatly lately.

He went down to $3000

There is a lot of rust. My Chicago-rusted Fiero with 139K was not that rusty.

I went back and looked at it and it looks like the left front fender is cracked, too. The shift console is separated. The glove box is buckled. Dash has several bad cracks in it. I don't think it's a 97000-mile car. Not worth the 3K in my opinion. It does have a nice set of American Racing Estrella Wheels on it, though. They are 15's and I have just found out the only 15's available in our sizes are Goodyear TA White Letter.
