Post by: Wreck It Ralph on December 28, 2020, 10:09:35 am
Here is a good link to download owner manuals and some service manuals.

Without going through the list, I've got several PDFs if anyone wants any. 88 Service Manual. 22P. Some Getrag stuff. Not sure what else.

I think the Calgary Fiero Club has all the Hemmings Factory Manuals online, too.  The 84, 86, and 88 manuals cover about everything that pertains to the 85 and 87, except for the evap tank under the right rear fender well of the 87 and 88.  The 84 is a beast of its own.  The 86 has every variant that was on the 85 and later, like automatic, 4-speed, and 5-speed Getrag and Isuzu.  The 86 manual probably has the most overall information.  Of course, only the 88 manual has info on its unique suspension.

Shoot me a PM with your email. I'll see if they are "sendable".

Are yours the scans, or the actual text?

The 22P is obviously a photocopy. But it's also better than nothing.
The others? Came from online sources, so they are what they are. I didn't scan any of them. I'm waaaay too lazy.

Edit - I have a potential source for a ton of Fiero documents. I've asked him for permission to share. If granted, I'll either send it to be added to the links page, or I'll just post it on the "Members" page. I certainly don't want to crush his server or his bandwidth allotment.

Regardless, I have a few of my own. I can always email what I've got.

I can set up a google drive for sharing. But I’d want it in the member area only.

See my post in "Club Business".

I prefer automatic downloads, where I click on the link, and it downloads all by itself.

I have several different physical manuals.  They are not all equal.  Some have illustrations, but others only have the text, and are half as thick.  Some books are missing entire sections.  I have looked through various downloadable manuals, and some seem to be missing several sections.

I had found a site that had manuals for probably more than 100, maybe 200 cars.  All in a digitital format, including the Fiero Manuals and they were all high quality.  I started printing them but the site wouldn't allow a mass printout of the manual.  It had to be done one page at a time.  I may have gotten a couple dozen pages done and the site shut down.  It's been more than a year.  I'll see if it's back up if I can find it.

A good, searchable copy would be great.

Could you download the manuals?

I couldn't download except maybe a page at a time.  I'll have to get on another computer and see if I can find it.  I thought I had it bookmarked.

If someone was a pro Adobe pdf version then you can do a text recognization. It’s not foolproof but it’s better than nothing.

OCR is still rather poor.  I have Acrobat Pro, as well as other products that work somewhat better.

Open mouth insert responsibility. 😂 and yeah OCR sucks pretty bad.

I have the 1986, 1987, and 1988 Helms (factory service) manuals, the user manuals for those years, the Haynes and Chiltons Fiero repair manuals, and a few other things. I can put them in the Members Only section and hope the server is not overloaded.

What causes the server overload?  I have a bunch of newsletters on there.  Of course, the newletters are much smaller.

Thus far, we have used other means.  I'll leave it at that.
