Title: 87 GT in Columbus, GA
Post by: TopNotch on December 04, 2009, 05:17:52 pm
The car is listed on Craig's list here (http://atlanta.craigslist.org/sat/cto/1492557102.html).
The ad says 87 or 88, but it's clearly an 87. The ad says only the clutch is bad. $900 OBO.

TopNotch,

Ya, this guy has been selling this Fiero on and off for over a year.  Last June when I was looking for an 88, (he had it listed as one) I went and looked.  He said then it was 1000 obo, so when I went and looked it was an 87 (he refused to believe me) and the car is soooooo gone, except for the Drivers and Passenger window, every window or piece if plexi is cracked, or clouded, the tails are screwed, door about to fall off, the miles are crazy high, the interior is crappy... so I offered him 800 for the hell of it and he refused, said not obligational and slammed the door, got real arrogant.  I drove 30 miles one way to find out it WASNT an 88, he wasnt negotiating, and to be treated like ^%!).   I told him to check his title after he argued the year (which he did, saw it was 87) said "its the same damn thing"... total butt the entire time.  They know people are more interested in an 88 so they like to throw that out there for NuBs.  To be honest, I don't think the car just needs a clutch.  They didn't allow me to really check the car out, but I could tell.

Just didn't want anyone traveling to waste their time.  It worked out for me, I found one, a true 88 the following week, for the same price, in great shape, a getrag - Formula (converted to a GT fastback) with CJB TTops from a really nice guy in Macon, GA.

Sounds like you made a great find with the Formula.  $1000 for a driveable Formula is really good.  By your 30 mile comment, I would guess you're in the Columbus area.  Not a bad drive up to Atlanta.  Come on up to one of the meetings and meet the folks.

FieroFool,

Actually I am located in Seale, AL.  The car this guy has posted isn't in Atlanta, it's in Mid Columbus, GA.  (I think everyone in the Columbus Area has already had their fill of that ad).

Thanks for the invite, I am actually always headed to Atlanta for something a few times a month.
