Could a 15x8 rim work on an 86 GT? Would the footprint be too wide to allow the front to turn?
-
This may help

Two things to consider would be the offset of the rim. Standard offset and aspect ratio would definitely scrub. You might go to something like a 45 series tire and get away with it. If you moved the offset outward, you may scrub on the outside of the tire when turning it into the wheelwell. Moving offset inward may scrub on the inside of the tire when turning out of the wheelwell. The posted chart may help. I had to study hard to be able to decipher it, but that's just my comprehensive ability.

Afterthought: A 15 x 8 on the rear with standard offset will likely scrub the spring boss on the strut.

The values are unreadable.

If you're logged in and click on the attachment link underneath the image and are on a Windows machine, it will open in the Photo app. From there, you can enlarge it. I'll repost it here to see if my image is any clearer.

Kevin, I just emailed it to you. I couldn't reduce the size to send it as an attachment to my post and I don't have PIP on this computer. The attachment is clear on my computer. It's what I sent to Wreck It Ralph but it's much clearer than his image.

Yeah it doesn’t reduce well.

Thanks for the feedback. I saw a repo set of 60’s PMD wheels I liked but they are 15x8.

That chart is for offset and width. There's another chart floating around for height comparison. Provided you have similar to stock offset you can use a lower profile tire and avoid front wheel scrub.

This is a recurring topic, and would make an excellent article, showing what wheels/tires could/not be used on a Fiero.
