Post by: GTRS Fiero on May 29, 2021, 07:59:40 pm
Mine has gone missing.  Anyone have one for sale?

The ones I have are for Fiero manual transmissions.

So, they are different?

Yes, mine is an automatic.

I would guess so.  You don't have a Fiero transmission.

True.  You think that is why it's missing?  I hadn't considered that.

The dust shield on my 3800 with 4t60E is plastic, and is in two pieces. Don't you have a 4T60E?

4T60

Does yours look like the stock shield?

I'm wondering if I need to use a shield from a 4T60, or if I could use the stock Fiero shield.

You may recall when I told about changing my front crankshaft seal, about the slot in the bell housing where I clamped vice grips on the ring gear. Well, a stock Fiero dust shield wouldn't cover that slot. If your transmission doesn't have a slot, you may be Ok with the Fiero dust shield.

Slot?  Gets loose coins, then you pull the handle...  Wrong type of slot.

Looks like I'll be crawling around under the Fiero again.  It's so spacious under there.

Perhaps you should invest in a QuickJack...

Code enforcement gestapo.

Code enforcement gestapo.
That's strange... A jack is a jack. If one kind is legal, another kind should also be legal.
An any case, I hope you're looking into moving.

Legal has nothing to do with it.  I have received citations for "working on an old vehicle in public view".  How about "failure to comply with noise regulations"?  I was replacing the washer motor, but that is up front, so he thought I was working on the engine.  It was after 9am on a Saturday morning.  His excuse was that "it had the potential to make noise".

I have been mowing my lawn, every week, but received a citation for grass longer than 4 inches, again.  Apparently, there was one piece sticking up.

When I saw him today, my Fiero was sitting peacefully in the carport, but I had spilled some fuel, so I'm sure he will cite me for something.  I started coughing a bit (allergies), so stepped really close to him, and whispered "COVID".  He left.

Well, property is expensive, right now, but yes, we plan to build a house somewhere where the house can't be seen from the road.
