GM has announced that it will no longer put CD players in car radios, starting next year. They will be available as an extra-cost upgrade, though.
The radio in my white Fiero, a fairly recent Pioneer model, plays CD's, but also plays music from USB flash drives and SD cards. For the Carlisle trip, I put MP3's of some of my favorite albums on a flash drive and plugged it into my radio.

I almost never use the radio, and haven't played a CD in a vehicle for many years.

I listen to the radio - usually talk radio. Or my iPod, through the USB.
Having said that, the last CD I purchased was delivered this past Monday, in an Amazon bag.

I have CD's that will no longer play on my computers. They will play in the car radio. USB's are great and hold so much, but one problem I have is that I can't write small enough to engrave descriptions of content on the USB drive.

I still buy CD's, and then I rip them to make my own MP3's, and keep the CD's as a backup, in case I lose the MP3's.
I also have MP3's made from old vinyl record albums. There is software available these days that does a very good job at removing pops and clicks from recorded record music, so that the MP3's actually sound better than the records they were made from.
