Applejack Asked: i have a 1987 fiero. i need to replace tranny. any shortcuts i can use?
-
I'm assuming you mean some other way than dropping the rear assembly. You can support the car and engine and remove the left suspension. The transmission can be removed in this manner. Automatics are much more difficult than manuals.
You might want to contact one of our mechanics at aerodonamic@att.net in Douglasville or adfieros@aol.com in Snellville.
Can you gives an idea of the symptoms. We may be able to assist you through this forum.

THANKS I HAVE ALREADY HAD A MECHENIC PRONOUNCE IT DEAD. IT HAS TO COME OUT TO REALLY ACESS THE PROBLEM. IT WAS LOCKED IN GEAR AND IT FELT I HAD BROKE SOME TEETH SOMEWHERE. UPDATE U WHEN I GET IT OUT.

If you need a transmission, several of our mechanics have some spares. Usually cheaper than getting someone to try to rebuild one. What engine-transmission combination do you have?

I do know where there is another. If you aren't dealing with a mechanic that specifically knows Fieros, take what they tell you with a teaspoon of salt.
