My bids on auxilliary gauge without the surrounding pod.  Lens and bezel.  Left A-pillar trim.  Isolator relay.

An instrument cluster is listed at .  Clock and small gauge is listed at $5.56 each.  I'll pay $12 for the volt/oil combo.
Small bezel is listed at $11.09.  I'll pay $12 for the bezel/lens combination.
A-pillar, best match I could find was Interior Panel-Medium at $9.45.  This is off my list but I will still make a donation in the amount of $9.45.
Isolator relay priced at  $3.00

For anyone who hasn't seen the car, all the aero pieces are good.  The only body pieces that aren't good are the front fascia and the deck lid.

The interior:

Instrument trim pieces are cracked at the screw holes.
The dash is cracked at the left speaker corner.
The steering wheel is shot.
The tilt column is good, but will need the ignition cyhlinder and the hazard warning button replaced.
Radio surround is delaminated
Shift surround (auto) is separated.
Glove box door is warped.
Power window and mirror panel has left window switch missing.
No switches in the instrument panel.
Good sunroof.
Good sunroof support hardware in front compartment.
Headlights raised up for me, but wouldn't go down.
Good radiator and cooling fan.
Tanks in front are good.
B-pillar panels are good and the speaker grills are still attached, so that means that the speakers and their special adapters are still inside.
Seats could be used if re-covered, but the current covers aren't salvageable.
Decent tail lights and front parking lights.
The automatic transmission seemed very solid in it's shifting from Neutral to Drive to Reverse.

Don had also pointed out that the car had the premium sound system.  I checked it out this afternoon and the subwoofer is missing, but the overhead console control is still there.

Shannon, I have the triangular dogbone access cover that you need.  I'll bring that to the next meeting.

If anyone has one from an 88, I'd be willing to buy it.  Apparently the 88 is larger than previous years.  I've already installed one and it's fallen out, and this one that I had to pry out of the 86 is too small, too.

My 88 didn't have one when I got it. Do 88's come with one? Anyhow, I got one of Rodney's, and they fit all years.

The Red Parts car is at my house in Acworth (major cross roads = 92 and i75).

My Cel is (4 o 4 863 21 oo) Text or call. if you would like to coordinate to get parts.

We could not fit the Cherry picker so I am making a second trip to get that from Charlies Friday April 25th most likely.

You are welcome to pull parts off of the car with my tools if it takes more time than a couple hours  I just ask that you give me a little heads up so I can make my plans work around your availability.

In order to take out the engine I will need to buy ramps for the front. If someone has some I can borrow I would appreciate it. if not I may need some someday anyway. Once we get the car tore down and the parts cataloged that are coveted or spare, I will Post a list and take pics for some items as requested. Once I get it to the bare bones I will borrow a plasma cutter and cut it up to fit in my truck for recycling if no one wants the frame.

I will try to store all the good parts I can for future needs.  I wont throw anything away before picturing it here first  and a little concurrence.

I have a pair of ramps you can use.  I don't expect I'll need them.  If you have a good compressor, I also have an air ratchet, chisel and impact wrench.  All 3/8 drive.  I can bring them along on Friday.

I have the Red Car at my Place with Ron's Cherry Picker. I have yet to pull an engine so I will be learning. My question is when we are done can I still roll the car? - I assume until told otherwise that the Transmission and Cradle are staying with the car.

I am in Acworth; I believe I have enough tools to take the engine out. If there are any special tools let me know.

If the motor is pulled from the top, you can still move it. If the cradle is dropped, then not so easy till its put back under the car.
Title: Re: Offers for doner car parts here
Post by: Fierofool on April 29, 2014, 09:51:34 am
The cradle and suspension system can be rolled on it's own wheels as long as the axle stubs are left in the hub.  Some have used a big bolt, washer or plate and nut to hold the bearing assembly in place, sans axle stubs.  Rolling the cradle without the stubs in place and torqued will destroy the bearings in just a few feet.  Given the availability of good replacement hubs, I'd say they're worth saving if possible.

Anyone purchasing parts, please give this a thought.

If you remove the part from the car, use the Pull-A-Part link above as your pricing guide.

If the part has already been removed from the car, consider offering a little more for the efforts and time someone else put forward.  Money from this car will help to fund the 88 GT Wounded Warrior Project Car.
Title: Re: Offers for doner car parts here

I will submit a bid on the headlight motors at $18 each.
Coolant rails--I couldn't find anything similar in the price list, so I'll bid $20 each.
Main instrument cluster--$30.

I have the cluster but the temp/fuel gauge had lost it's light shield.  I couldn't use it so I'll return the cluster.
I didn't take the coolant rails and won't be getting them.

It has AC of unknown condition.  The underside of the car was beaten up a little and the AC lines were not fully secured to the pan, if I recall.

DANGER WILL ROBINSON DANGER!!!

You do NOT want an old compressor! (These aren't the droids you're looking for.)
You can still use it as a core though. Any compressor from a Fiero is so worn out that they are not worth rebuilding.
Most any compressor is like that anyway and would cost more to rebuild and then you would have to get it fixed
again in 6 months.

If you can find a used one from a 2013 or 2014 vehicle that is interchangeable go for it.
A SANDEN SD508 is one of the best (if you can find one.) They are usually on non-American
cars.

Google SANDEN for more info and also Google 'parallel tube' condensers. They are made especially
for R-134 and have greater flow and surface area for better cooling. However, they are easier to clog
so you want to be as certain as possible that everything is VERY clean.

You will need a NEW dehydrator, high pressure switch and filter anyway. Tubes, brackets and don't
forget the interior controls and I do not know if the box under the dash has to come out. Likely it will
because you have to add the evaporator.

I'm not trying to rain on your parade but this is a job that requires your ducks be in a row and
I'd hate to see you get messed up like I've seen others. Research everything before you begin.

Ok. Thanks.  I've done plenty-o-work in the ac dept...  well versed and already initiated!  My plan is to hook everything up, then once fitted, then fit a new compressor and receiver/dryer.  Off course, all plumbing and suchwill be tthoroughly cleaned before operation.  I would need the air box (suitcase) under the dash, along with the controls and and associated wiring.  That's what i meant by "front to back" .  But if you guys say it is in bad shape, then Nevermind.
How about the sub woofer system?  I know the woofer is gone, but what about the housing, the sub amp and the wiring?  I'm interested in that too.  If no housing, ok.  Because i can make my own.....maybe ???

Ron

Randy, Don and I spent the day stripping parts off the car.  Don removed the orifice tube and found it to be full of compressor parts.  Chunks and shards of teflon and aluminum.  That said that the compressor was of no use.  We went to the rear to work in the engine bay and saw that the AC compressor and the lines were also gone.  Probably the only part of the AC system that can be used is the condenser at the front and the box underneath the dash.

Lots of parts were removed and Randy said he will be putting up a list of what we have.  Since these parts are already removed for you, please make an offer a little higher than standard Pull-A-Part prices.
Title: Re: Offers for doner car parts here
Post by: f85gtron on May 24, 2014, 09:29:55 am
Well, my offer for 75 still stands for the remaining components....minus the compressor.  Are the brackets and wiring still there?  If so, mark me down to strip the interior at the same time....might as well, while I'm in there!
Ron
Title: Re: Offers for doner car parts here
Post by: Fierofool on May 24, 2014, 09:49:49 am
The lines underneath are there, the condenser and radiator are there, the dash was broken apart and we removed it.  It's not useable.  The piping and hardware in the front compartment is there.  It would be easiest to just pull the whole chunk and swap out with yours.  We removed the climate control switch and put it in the parts bin and the remainder of the under-dash stuff is still in the car.  Best I could see, a couple of the AC brackets were still on the engine, but the major one isn't.  I have one I will throw into the pile for you.  I think the ductwork on the back of the dash is common to all cars, but I'll also give you a dash that has good ductwork on the back of it.

Great!  Basically, I'm MOST concerned with the air box(suitcase), controller and plumbing. The rest i can fudge.
I was offering my services to strip the interior, but it sounds like you got to it already.

You can still come up and pull stuff out.  There are also the exterior body panels that are all good pieces, except the nose.  Aero package, power windows and mirrors, but I don't believe it has power door locks.  There's still lots that can be done.  Just check with MetalBlue85GT to schedule it.

Also any evening after 6pm on the weekdays I can host to pick parts up or take some disassembly.

I haven't been getting to your calls yet, work has me spread really thin.

I think I am going to have to call it for Saturday. that airport trip breaks the day right in half sorry for the late update.

Ron, I didn't get the coolant rails.  I got the instrument cluster, but when I removed the part I needed (the temp and fuel gauge) the rubber light shield crumbled off due to a previous person having put the unit back incorrectly.  I tested the temp and fuel cluster and they seem to work correctly.  I put them back into the main pod and will return it.

I think I'm going to have to withdraw my offer for the parts car engine. Randy has not answered PM's or emails to arrange a time for me to go get it, and frankly, I'm tired of postponing weekend plans in the hope that this might be the available weekend. So if anyone wants it, make an offer. But lots of luck actually getting it.

Title: Re: Offers for doner car parts here
Post by: Fierofool on August 03, 2014, 06:40:50 pm
How about if I make this offer?  To keep the parts car engine complete, I have a throttle body from a low mileage 86 engine.  It's been cleaned and is in very good condition with no pitting around the intake tube area.  It currently has a TPS on it.

I'll take $50 to include shipping, and include the TPS or $40 for just the throttle body.  I'll donate the proceeds to the Warrior Project fund.  I also have the 86 intake if needed.

Pullapart price is $32 for the throttle body and $15 for the TPS plus entrance and environmental impact fees.

That might work. I don't need any sensors, because it's for a dual tb setup.....and, I'll probably get it quicker.
I really would like to still get the parts off the parts car too. Is out possible to grab parts at the next meeting and after?  Randy?  I would like to try again.

I wont make the meeting Saturday so I am trying to get some communication out.

In my replies I have said that for the last two weeks I had little opportunity to host people here since I had a house full of inlaws. Scott Brown came out and picked up the Radiator FAN Saturday (aug 2) morning. The only other person besides me and Scott that has taken parts so far is Charlie. I have tail lights That I need to Paypal (40) for still.

This Sunday aug 10 I have time I can commit to help pull the engine or what ever else may be needed.

I apologize Pat for the recent lack of availability but I explained it in my replies to voice mails emails and here on the forum that I was not available to do anything with the engine until this coming week somehow I didn't get the message out there.

Thank you for the call recently Charlie, I am doing ok work, weddings and my wife graduating College has taken all my spare time. Now that it is all passed will have some Fridays and weekends where I can finish this effort.

I would like to get my garage back soon so I will be more motivated to finish this up. I think I will be pulling the gas tank Sunday and possibly the radiator in order to drain the coolant system. I will take some pictures and post them here this Sunday at least.

Randy.

The engine is in the back of my truck now, and safely home. Randy's muscle was most helpful (stubborn bolts), and I gave him a few tips in trade. It was the first time I had pulled an engine with an automatic transmission -- I didn't know it was going to bleed trans fluid all over the driveway as soon as we got the torque converter out of the bell housing. Time for some kitty litter.

Ron do your accept your offer?  ;D  We will have to plan the dismantle of those close to the tear down or delivery of the skeleton to the yard.

There are wheels and tires that the club doesn't own on this car, It looks like there will be some more tear down needed. All four quarter panels are in fair condition and the glass is good. The rear glass has the defrost in it there is a solid moon roof glass. I found a window removal kit from harbor freight to pull the wind shield. I need to remove the gas tank and the radiator to prepare for cutting it up for scrap.

I do not think I need the cherry Picker any longer at this point if there is a good time to move it. If you need to store it for a while that's ok too. It is convenient to jack the car up with.

If I find time to finish the dismantling I will start with pics and a spread sheet of what is left.

once I find either a junkyard or If I can get it cut down I will get all the rims rounded up. who do they go to?

The rims belong with the 2 88 cars.  The Warrior Project has 7 inch on the front and the Formula has tires that are crumbling apart in the driveway.  If Ron can determine which tires and sizes are on the rear of the WP, we could pick out a suitable match from the front rims.  I can take the others and put them on the Formula.  When I get home, that is.

If you're speaking of the outer roof skin and glass, yes they are still there.  The headliner board is broken, but I believe the outer skin is in good condition with no cracks or chips.

All the panels are there and in good condition other than the front fascia.  Lowers with ground effects will fit an Indy, all GT's and 86-7 SE.
