As discussed today, the June meeting will be held at my house in Powder Springs (address 514 Linda Lane Powder Springs 30127) . I would like to know if anyone would be interested in grilling here for lunch instead of going out to eat? This would also let us have the club picnic at the same time.

Is It Going To Be A Work Day / Club Picnic ?

Saturday, June 14 is US Flag Day, too. Very appropriate for a work day on the Wounded Warrior Car Project!

Well, Just asking,,, No one brought up anything at the meeting when I suggested working on the car . Again, time is short, I personally would like to see the car finished and given to person of need. Thoughts, concerns, ???
-
I'll be contacting Fox5Atlanta, tomorrow to see if I can get any interest on their part. I also need to contact the Fort Stewart Chaplain, again to see if he's having any luck. Once we have some major backing, I'll start going after parts and service vendors for sponsorship.
Do you all think we could have the club picnic and accomplish anything on the car at the same time? I also thought Shannon and Patty had wanted to host again. I don't remember if it was supposed to be this month, or if it was October.
-
I think we should do what we can with what we have. Time is against us. October may be a stretch but good things happen to good causes. I believe we can do it.
Perhaps we should start the meeting/event/work on the car very early and get as much as possible done on that day. I mean EARLY.
Rebuttals?

Sorry we missed the meeting this weekend. Saturday was my daughter's high school graduation :).
At the April meeting, we offered to have the picnic at our house again this year. I believe what was decided was that we would have it in October. I know that last year when we were planning, everyone was concerned about having it too early in the summer because of the heat. If you guys want to change it and have it at a different time and place, we're okay with that, though. My only thought would be that I wouldn't think as much could be accomplished on the car if having the picnic at the same time. Also with all of the work that is to be done, how much would everyone be able to actually enjoy themselves? I think the picnic by itself is a chance for everyone to sit around, relax and chat with each other and just enjoy the day and the company. I agree with eating at Ron's house (even if that means just ordering pizzas) vs going out because I'm sure that everyone will be filthy and won't want to go into a restaurant, but I honestly don't think it should replace the picnic. Just my .02.

Let me check with Gail, we might be there.
-
I vote we have the picnic at Tink's in October, and not at the June work day. To do a picnic, various people need to bring coolers, chairs, tables, etc., and that's a lot of hassle to add to a work day.

We're not opposed to having the picnic a different Saturday in October.

I am all about working on the car. June 14th is my 20th Ann. and we will be aboard a ship in the south atlantic. I wish I could be there.
let me know if you need anything pulled from the Red Car for the Silver Auto I can try to pull it this Friday and give it to Charlie whiel he is here this Friday (if the planning works out. )
-
I think that we should stick to the original plan 88 project first. We have some time to plan for the picnic lator. Again my opinion only, we would need to carrey tools and jacks;etc. not much room for picnic supplys.

Where Is The Car Pat Needs To Get The Engine From ?
-
At Randy's in Acworth.
-
I will plan on taking some photos of working on the charity car so that we can have at least a group photo of everyone gathered around the car.
Whoever has the banner, please bring it along so we can put it in the background of the photo.
Anyone who has a GFC shirt, or other Fiero logo shirt, bring it along. You can put on your shirt right before the photo-taking so that it will remain clean.
Maybe we can take another group photo when the car is done, too and send out a follow-up release (perhaps announcing the recipient).

Instead Of Grilling For Lunch, Why Doesn't Every One Pitch In And Order Pizza ?
Every One Bring Their Their Own Drinks.
-
Thats 2 for ordering pizza. If everyone else is agreeable we can do this.
-
If You Collect $ 5.00 Per Person When They Get There.
You Should Have More Then Enough To Get A Couple Of Pizzas.
If There Is Any Left Over Money It Can Be Donated To The Club.
-
To recap everything:
The June meeting will begin at 11AM.
We will be working on the 88GT Wounded Warrior Project car.
Bring your own tools or come to watch and learn.
Everyone pitches in $5 and we will order pizza to be delivered to us for lunch.
Bring your own drinks.
Bring your folding chairs to sit in.
The meeting has been moved from The Galaxy Diner to:
514 Linda Lane
Powder Springs, Ga. 30127

Has anyone set a time for us to arrive there?
-
We will be there, but late. Shannon's going to take my car and drop it off at the shop while I take a sick kitty to the vet. As soon as we get done, we'll head that way. Definitely no way we will be there by 11 since it's about an hour and 10 minute trip. Vet appt. is at 9 and appt. to drop car off is at 9:30. Hopefully neither will take too long.
-
For anyone who would want to attend and wants to know where, what time and what day, please see page 2 of this thread. It's in big bold red letters for all to see.

You guys will probably beat me to 88gt.... Maybe a quick run back over to your house at some point during the day?
