Title: This years Charity Donation
Post by: scottb on December 03, 2016, 07:26:07 am
I was thinking while going home yesterday and a brain fart....... err, storm. Im not sure if the club has made its annual donation yet, if it hasn't I believe we should do something for the folks in Gatlinburg. Perhaps a clothing drive? If we do that I will gladly load up the Expedition and take it there. Any other thoughts on this?

Works for me. Thanks for the offer.
I'm certain that we (Tammy and I) can come up with a bunch...

I think this would be a good idea. Since the only expense to the club would be delivering the clothes, (gas for someone to drive them up there), I think we should do it. But since there's less than a week to the Christmas party, would it be a good idea to have folks bring donated clothes to the party? Let me know what you think.

Contact needs to be made with someone up there, maybe in the Police or Fire Departments or Chamber of Commerce.  A delivery point needs to be determined.  If we can wait until the 17th to deliver, I can help deliver and also it would give me time to approach my church to see if they may have anything.  I'm sure clothing for all ages is needed, as well as warm bedding.

Others of you might also check with churches you're affiliated with.

Can someone make contact with some one up there? I have too much going on at work to do it.

The club doesnt have to worry about gas, i will take care of that.

I agree with Pat that the collection should happen this weekend since we are all going to be gathered together anyway.

Thanks, Scott

On the news, this afternoon, I saw that Dolly Parton is doing a national telethon on the 13th to raise money for the victims.

I'm all for it.  I believe the club should at least support the fuel costs for this endeavor. I'll be bringing clothes and other items to the meeting/party.

Why Doesn't The Club Just Send Money And Let Them Spend It Where Ever
It Is Most Needed ?

Thank you for checking to that Charlie. It was just a thought on my end. Perhaps we can make a monetary donation. I will let everyone make that decision tomorrow.
