Title: Summit Racing Catalog
Post by: Fierofool on May 19, 2017, 01:02:54 pm
Summit recently mailed out a sale or Spring catalog.  Does anyone have a copy?

My brother threw away his copy.  There was some lighting in it that I'm interested in.  It was a garage light that replaces the standard incandescent style.  There were 3 adjustable angle LED panels on it.

Email or pm me, please, or call if you have my number.

You can request catalogs here (https://www.summitracing.com/catalog).

Thanks.  I ordered the tool catalog.  I'm not sure it's the right book, but the one Ray got was about the same number of pages.  The light I want isn't on their website.

If you call and tell them as much as you just posted they will find it for you.

I don't remember.  It was open on the coffee table and I thumbed through it but didn't look at the cover.  He just got it within the past 2 or 3 weeks.

I'll give them a call next week.

I've got the Jan-Feb big catalog, and supplement, and the Mar-Apr supplement. Can't find the Mar-Apr big catalog, if it exists.

Was it the right book?

Not the right book.  Even though I buy from and signed up for catalogs, I receive nothing in my name.  Ray's catalogs continue to come in the mail.

They have a location that's about an hour and half drive from me.  I've already found a substitute for the lights.  What I was looking for was an LED setup that had 3 or 4 heads on it that were adjustable.  I had 2 4-foot fluorescent lamps in the garage, about midway back and equally spaced side to side.  Ballasts were failing and it required flipping the switch off and on until they may decide to come on.

I was in WalMart and happened to come across some 4 foot LED fixtures that are of the same design as standard fluorescent fixtures.  $19 each.  Each has two rows of LED's and they light every corner of the garage very well.

You replaced the entire fixtures... right?
I found some 4 foot tubes that replace the fluorescent tubes, but I had to take the fixtures apart and bypass the ballasts. Bought on Amazon, about a year ago. (I'm happy to see that LED technology is improving and getting less expensive.)

Yeah.  The whole fixture.  I have my lights and opener wired into the same junction box where the original single incandescent bulb was located.  It's operated by the light switch inside the living room door.  Rather than connect them direct to the opener, they are wired direct.  The door opener times out after a while and always seems to turn the lights off right at the critical point of a project.

Back in 88 when I installed the opener and lights I didn't want to try to power the two fluorescents through the opener circuit.  I could probably power these two lights through the bulb socket in the opener, but since I already had a feed wire for each light dropped through the ceiling I just rewired the same way.

The price has gone down.
