Title: Heads Up - HUD
Post by: pgackerman on December 30, 2017, 04:49:50 pm

Will this HUD work in our Fieros?

I have a 7730 (highly recommended) ECM in mine.

Anyone add a HUD to their Fiero?

Unavailable.

I looked at that or one like it, a few years ago, but it is OBD2.  I did buy a different one for a previous Fiero.  It was a stock HUD, but I never implemented it.

Did you pursue this?

So I don't have a true HUD in my car, but I have found a similar system that works for me.

I added a magnet mount to my cell phone and an elevated mount above the console.  I use google maps and it now shows the speed limit and the speed you are traveling.  So I have the phone set on landscape view in maps.  Where it is at it is right in the bottom of my eye line but not blocking my view of the road. It gives me all my nav and my speed as well as the speed limit.  Really works very well for me.

I looked at an app that runs on the phone, projecting on the windshield.  Of course, the phone lays flat on the dashboard.  Ultimately, I was not impressed, partly because sun reflected off the screen.  Using an anti-glare cover prevented the display from showing on the windshield.
