Administrator's Announcements / We have to find another website host.

Currently, our website is hosted by Powweb hosting. They have recently raised their price to almost $200 per year. And since I had set up automatic renewal, they just sucked it out for the next year. That's way too expensive, so I'll be looking round for a new host.
If you have a suggestion, let us know. Must support SSI, SQL, and PHP.

If you are referring to this Forum's Admin Announcements, they are only necessary when major changes to the forum are made.

I have renamed the "Tech Tips" board to "Tech Tips, Tech Questions", and the "Tech Q&A" board to "Expert Tech Advice", to more accurately reflect what the boards were meant for. And I will move some topics so that they are in the correct board.

Administrator's Announcements / New YouTube software

I have removed the old YouTube software from this forum, and installed new software. It works better, and also handles Vimeo videos. To use it, copy the URL (http://whatever) of your YouTube or Vimeo video. Look for the YouTube icon in the row of icons just above the row of smileys that you see while composing a message. Press this icon, and insert your URL between the bracketed "youtube" and "/youtube" that appear. To the right of the YouTube icon is the icon to press for Vimeo videos, and it works the same way.
To copy a video's URL, highlight it and type Control-C. To paste it in a message, ensure your cursor is in the right place, and type Control-V.
I hope this isn't too confusing.

The 2013 Run For The Hills #18 will be based in Dahlonega, Georgia, the site of America's first gold rush. Dahlonega is located just past the top end of Georgia Highway 400, where it becomes US19  and crosses Highway 52. Attractions in Dahlonega include a Gold Museum and two gold mines open for tours daily

When calling to reserve a room, mention the Georgia Fiero Club. The rates with this code is $59.50 per night for a room with a single king bed, or $63.75 for a room with two double beds. These rates are for a two-night stay for one or two occupants. Additional occupants are $7.00 each.
This rate is only valid until August 20th. Sorry, that is the only deal they were willing to make. After that, the rates are $70 and $75.
Note: You can also make reservations at 1-800-DAYSINN, but you can't get the special rates.

I have put in new anti-spam measures to reduce spam registrations. It seems to be working, as there haven't been any since making the change.
From now on, a new registrant will have to answer one of three questions, submitted at random.
The questions are:
1. What is your favorite car?
2. What was the first model year for Fiero?
3. Which GM division made Fieros?
Any bona-fide Fiero enthusiast should be able to give the correct answer to any of them. A spam robot, on the other hand, won't have a clue.

If someone sends you a personal message on this forum, you will get a notice sent to the email address you supplied when you registered. DO NOT reply to that email. If you do, it will go to me (the Admin), not to the person who sent the message. The email will have a link on the bottom that you can click for replying to the sender.

The folks who make the Forum software I use have done a major upgrade. since they no longer support security upgrades to the old version, I have upgraded to the new version. I will be tweeking it over the next few days.
