General Fiero Discussion / Movie Car Casting in Atlanta
« on: May 23, 2016, 09:08:38 pm »
From today's AJC: Extras Casting Atlanta (ECA) is continually looking for people who own or have access to vehicles made in 1986 and before, since (the TV show) "Halt and Catch Fire" is set in the mid 1980s. To submit, email several pictures of your vintage car, along with contact information, to: hcfextras3@gmail.com. Be sure to put the word "cars" in the subject line of your email.

Club News / Re: Updated: Don Hulse
« on: April 02, 2015, 11:01:36 am »
Nancy and I send our most sincere condolences to Patsy and Darrell and (sorry, can't remember their daughter's name) and extended family.

Don left an indelible impression on me, and everyone in the Club, I'm sure. His endless stream of puns and humor used to leave me laughing so hard I could barely take a breath, and his unending energy was admirable and courageous.

Above all, Don was a kind man. This showed in his professional and personal relationships and actions.

Thanks for everything, and Rest In Peace, our dear friend; you have sure earned it.

Best,
Tim

Thank you Linda for sending the card.

Might I suggest that all members of GA Fiero's wear a black armband to the next meeting?

Or maybe black shirts or jackets?

Roy's family's requested charity, the Fisher House Foundation, gets incredibly great reviews if our club wants to do something in his name:

Just happened to run across this very sad news on the MOPAR Club's Facebook page today: Roy Jones, owner of the Galaxy Diner, has passed away.

Fellow GFC Directors.... we should do something on behalf of the GFC...

General Discussion / Re: If you drink Coca cola
« on: October 16, 2014, 08:18:53 am »
I always thin mine out with Glenlivet Single malt Scotch whisky.
Hasn't bothered me for 50 years.

I have found Bacardi 151 to work well as a neutralizer. Last Saturday, Ms. 70 Chevelle and I went to Pittypat's Porch in downtown Atlanta (themed after the namesake aunt in Gone with the Wind for you outatowners) where I had an Anklebreaker...  two ounces of 151, one shot of Brandy and some lime juice. I don't remember experiencing any elevated insulin or other side effects.

As a matter of fact, I don't remember much at all.

Club News / Re: Club board and general officer elections
« on: September 28, 2014, 09:09:02 pm »
I announced this at the May meeting, but unfortunately, I will be leaving the Club after filling out my term on the 2014 Board. My last meeting will be our Christmas get-together in December.

My Dodge Colt should be here within the next 2 or 3 weeks, and I need to start getting it ready for the spring 2015 show circuit and possibly a run in the Walter Mitty Challenge at Road Atlanta, so my time will have to be totally devoted to that.

The Colt has made it from Vancouver to Seattle, where it is in a race car specialist shop. It just got a new windshield, a rebuilt gearbox, some rewiring, and (best of all) the 2.0L stock Mitsubishi mill has been replaced with a 2.6L out of a Dodge D50 pickup truck. ;-)  Some period-correct (1970s) driving lights have been located and procured, and the next steps will be some hard-to-find 14" tires, then a new paint job to match the scheme of the original car that I campaigned between 1975-81.

I'll give a mushy, sentimental (emphasis on mental) thank-you speech to all of you at the December meeting, but just a heads up for now that there will be an "opportunity" for someone new to serve! ;-)

Jack & Ellen showed up at the Red Onion and spent their lunch with us.
Jack is recovering from a stroke about a month ago and is doing amazingly well!
It was good to see both of them again.

Jack, glad to hear you're doing so well!

I'm sure CowsPatoot is busy with other things at this moment, but I just learned from FireFly about this video of a portion of the run.  That's CowsPatoot driving the convertible being filmed by Darrel in pursuit.

Holy Moley, CowsPatoot, sorry about your car, but glad everyone's okay!!!

Ms. Chevelle and I will be there.  She says she will bring a big salad and dressings.

I will bring my 10ft x 10ft canopy and a couple of lawn chairs.
