Club News / Re: Club's Formula Fastback

I picked up some cleaner to wash out the tank and retrieved the tank from my storage unit.  Pat said he's received the new sending unit from The Fiero Store.  Only thing I need to do is to pick up a fuel pump filter.  I think I'll also get a new fuel filter in light of what we found in the old tank.

Could I make a suggestion for replacing the St. Patrick's Parade this year?

If we don't get the fastback up and running at the next meeting, then we return on the 17th and finish it off.  If we do get it running on the 10th, then we either do our own rehash of the Polar Bear Run, or we do the two car museums.

We have a copy of the Polar Bear Run route sheet with the destination being Dahlonega.  We could all have lunch at the Smith House when we get there.

If we do the two car museums, I will need ample notice to make the arrangements.

Sarge, what are your official orders, Sir!?

The music last night wasn't the normal 70's-90's music.  The song may not have been on your CD's for that type music.

NAPA commonly has reels of hose in different sizes.  Maybe some of the parts stores do, too, but I don't remember seeing them on public display.  Maybe back in the stock shelves somewhere.  Since you need to remove the tank to do the fix, just take it along for fitting.

I pulled this from FieroSails link in our Merchants and Vendors section.

'87 Fiero 2.5L Engine: The following engines can be used in a Fiero except for the flywheel or flexplate. Change induction, exhaust, and electrical systems, pilot bushings as necessary. Will not interchange with '88 engines due to oil pan interference with frame.

Pontiac 6000        '87 2.5L VIN "R"
Chevrolet Celebrity '87 2.5L VIN "R"
Buick Century       '87 2.5L VIN "R"
Olds Cutlass Ciera  '87 2.5L VIN "R"

The following information was posted to Pennock's Fiero Forum by "Ray" from Houston, TX:

It is possible to get a better 2.5L engine for the '87-88 2.5L Fiero from a 1993 S-10. The 2.5L engine from the '93 S-10 should provide over 100 HP and considerably better mileage.

That could probably be arranged for a small fee if you find one.

I think someone at the Saturday meeting said that with the new tax codes, charitable donation deductions have been eliminated.

I've done some searching and can't find anything in North Georgia or even into South Carolina.

I don't remember what the temp is for closed loop, but when it goes in, the engine idle rpm will drop.

The 85 and 87 engines aren't direct swaps.  You would be downgrading if you went with an 85 engine.  Other things like wiring and ECM's, and maybe some of the plumbing would need to be changed.
