Welcome, Cody!

Absolutely START with the STARTER connections!  I just went through this same scenario, troubleshooting everything except the tire pressure, and in the end, it was indeed simply a bad starter connection!!!

I am sure that all of my fellow GFC members were even happier than I was to get it fixed, since several had taken turns push-starting me more than once!  ;- )

FGTB

Yeah i plan on getting a new positive wire cable this weekend and then replacing the other wire running to the starter. I hope it works. :D

Welcome, Cody.  Being in Loganville, you've got 2 great Fiero mechanics at your doorstep.  One is off Old Loganville Road, going south on 78, turn left at the Race Trac station and about a mile down.  The other is in Snellville just behind the high school.  Even a college kid can afford them.

Sweet, if i ever need to go there i will. if i dont figure the problem out on my own. i like to work on my cars mysself so im determined to figure out the problem. im about 90% sure its a wire shorting out or something small like that.

Welcome to the insanity!

You can do the RFTH without having to stay the night.

Oldone is right about grounding. Fiero's are notorious for bad grounds.
Since you've installed a new starter I'm assuming that the solenoid was replaced as well?

Again, Welcome!

Yes, the new solenoid came on the new starter. :D

welcome to the club paid or unpaid you're always welcome with this group and help is not very far away. you might try adding another ground or two. are you sure that battery is good , does it accept a charge? i bet someone would let you stay in their room , we all have had lean money times at one or another. run for the hills would be a great way to start with the club as a future member or a new member.

The battery was bought in june this year. i know there can be bad batteries also so we checked the battery with a volt meter. It is putting out the correct voltage and it doesnt die while driving so i assume the alternator works or else the battery would die. Im going to replace the positive battery cable as soon as i can. If that doesnt work then i will try to replace the other cable connected to the starter. If anyone has other solutions or explanations that might be helpful then please post. :)

Anybody want to let quadabaum share your room?

That be awesome!!! But unfortunately my car will only crank if i "roll crank it", or roll it down a hill in first and disengage the clutch to jump start it. I have tried to jump start the battery and i bought a new starter. I also bought a new negative battery plug wire since the old one looked rough. The car drives fine after i have rolled it off but it will not crank on its own. All that happens when i try is the starter "clicks" a single time each time i try to crank it. If anyone can help me then it be very thankful and if anyone wants to share a room for the run to the hills id also be thankful. Thanks in advance.

I was the treasurer last year, and if someone paid late in the year, I gave them a paid membership for the next year. I'm sure that'll be OK with the current treasurer also.

And welcome to our forum. You can not only come to a meeting, but if the time's not too close for you to do it, you can come to our Run For The Hills this weekend. The hotel is still accepting reservations at the club rate. See this page for more info.

I read all about the run to the hills and i really want to go. But im in college and i am actually open this weekend for it, but i wont have the money to pay for the hotel so i cant afford it, if all i had to pay was gas i could prob make it but i dont have hotel money. lol. I really wish i could!!!! Yall have fun though. I will definitely try to make it to a club meeting sometime soon and ill do my best to do the annual run next year.

Maybe meet up sometime, i go to a weekly meet in gwinnett county sometimes that is held by a friend of mine at wild bills. Vip parking and free admission for everyone and there cars. Free meeting and ive been trying to get more pontiacs fieros/firebirds to come out and represent with me. If i pay the membership fee does it last an entire year or do i have to pay again every january? Like if i pay now will i pay again in september next year or is there a specific time all members pay? Thanks again guys.

Hey guys im new to the fiero community. My name is Cody and i am now the proud owner of my first fiero but 2nd pontiac. I own a 91 firebird and bought the 87 fiero 2.5l 5 speed i now have because i love 2 seaters, mid engines, pontiacs and most of all great gas mileage. i have lots of plans for my fiero and i am glad to be a part of the fiero community. I look forward to checking out yall club and maybe becoming a member. Is it ok to come to a club meeting and meet guys and get a feel for the club or do i have to be a paying member first? Nice to meet yall!! Look forward to meeting everyone.
