At least the ones with Electric cars know what theirs are. They have to plug them in.

General Fiero Discussion / Re: Valve adjustments
« on: October 03, 2017, 09:37:25 pm »
It depends on the engine. Some are inherently noisy.
But noisy valves may point to problems, not bad adjustment. If they're still noisy after adjustment, try adding Rislone to your oil. Rislone is the one additive recommended by Smokey Yunick back in the day. Many additives are "snake oil", but Rislone is pretty good at cleaning stuck lifters.
I read somewhere that it is best to adjust the valves with the engine at operating temperature. It would be tough to do on a Fiero V6, though. It would cool somewhat by the time you got the valve covers off.

Since that's the same link as before -- he wants $1000.

The deck lid is not an 88. It has the metal anti-static plate in the middle. 88 deck lids have an internal conductive layer, and so don't need the anti-static plate. The car could be a Franken-Fiero.

As of now, I'm not sure when the October meeting will be. I will update as soon as it's finalized.

General Fiero Discussion / Re: LED longevity?
« on: September 30, 2017, 09:43:03 am »
If they're still good after 2 years, they should be good for the life of the car. Bad ones will go bad fairly quickly. They're typically made using surface mount technology with an aluminum backing under the circuitry for heat syncing. Bad ones actually un-mount themselves due to inadequate heat syncing. When this happens, you will notice individual elements flickering or out altogether.

Sort of like Pilgrims coming to America, and having to fend for themselves, except no Indians to help out.

They will carry oxygen in liquid form. It's also one of the fuels of the BFR. The other one is methane (natural gas). Mars has water and carbon dioxide. You can make oxygen and methane from those. (Split water into oxygen and hydrogen. Combine hydrogen and CO2 to get methane (CH4) and more oxygen.)

How did the transmission do on RFTH?

It did just fine. I'm driving it every day now.

NASA missions take 5 or 6 months to get to Mars. The BFR will do it in 2 or 3 months, but, yes, you'd need a lot of food and other supplies. Cargo ships would go too.

It will have 40 "staterooms". Assuming 2 or 3 people per stateroom, about 100 people. Musk's main reason for building this is to realize his desire to colonize Mars. The passenger service will be one way to pay for it. He will also offer services to NASA -- space station servicing, cargo or people to the moon, whatever.
There will also be a cargo version of the second stage, which can refuel the passenger version in orbit, for long trips (moon or mars).
