The Great Conjunction
« on: December 21, 2020, 04:30:38 pm »
This picture was made using a backyard telescope recently. Planets and moons are labeled for your convenience. (The real sky doesn't do that.) The picture is reduced in size from the original, but I think you can see everything. This is for those who can't climb Stone Mountain tonight (including me) to see it for yourself.

The more complex the mind, the greater the need for the simplicity of play.

We tried.  Went for a drive with good view of horizon...only cloud (and rain) and faint view of moon.  No great surprise.

Tonight I managed to catch the conjunction through a "hole" in the trees. I attempted to take pictures with a Canon Powershot SX70HS. This is the best one. Jupiter (with moons) is on the left, and Saturn is on the right.
