Out of curiousity, if you have the 7730 ECU and/or a different engine, can you still plug up your WINALDL to the same plug and be good to go?

Winaldl uses 160 baud only.
The newer ecms (7730) utilized higher baud. Use tuner pro for the newer ecms and obd2

F23 connecting power to ground

Is the hardware able to handle the higher baud rate?

If you build the single transistor, no. The dual transistor, yes.
I found it cheaper and easier just to buy this max232 ttl board and use the ground, tx and rx pins.
