Control arms, paddle nuts, bolts, shafts
« on: January 28, 2018, 07:28:59 pm »
On the '88, there are both an upper control arm and a lower control arm on each side in the front.  How many paddle nuts, shaft bolts, and shafts are used for one Fiero?

Each upper arm uses one paddle nut plate, one cross shaft that goes through both bushings, and two bolts that thread into the nuts on the paddle nut plate.

The lower arms use a conventional bolt and nut at each bushing (two, per side.)

Hope that helps.

That's exactly what I needed to know.

Are the nuts conventional or self-locking?
There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

The paddle nuts are plates that have flanged locknuts (at least the originals are) "staked" into them.
I'm not sure if the aftermarket (i.e. Fiero Store) assemblies include locknuts or just standard flanged nuts.

Sorry, I should have indicated that I was referring to the lower control arm bolts and nuts.

I think they're locknuts, Charlie.
