    DIM HEADLIGHTS

For the last few days the battery light has been flickering on and off.  I didn`t give it much concern until today when i was driving to work and just about middle of the way the battery light came on and stayed on.  The car didn`t drive any different but i knew that the light being on there definitely was something wrong.

I was relieved that i made it to work.  When leaving work the car started fine and the battery light flickered but it stayed out just like in the past.  I thought things were back to normal until i turned my headlights on.  My speedometer panel light was very dim i couldn`t tell how fast i was going and it looked as if my headlights were dim but as long as the battery light wasn`t on i thought that it would be fine.  When i got out on I-20 i could only see about 3 feet in front of me.  The high beam look like low beam and low beam looked like i needed to turn my lights on.

Anyone have any ideas on what could be the problem?    Thank-you

Sounds like your just running off your battery and need to replace your alternator before you need a battery too. Or it could just be a loose belt or no belt.

I thought it was the alternator also.  I  checked for a loose belt and if there was no belt on the 88 it would over-heat.  Thank-you for your insight.
