Looking for Getrag, Isuzu, or 4 speed.

Well... On the way home from the club meeting, Saturday, I managed to frag my Getrag. Dammit.

Looking for Getrag (or Isuzu and cables, or 4 speed and cables and shifter.)

As the topic says, I'm looking for (in order of preference)

    A Getrag.

    An Isuzu (with cables)

A 4 speed (with cables and shifter)

If you're interested, please let me know what ya' got. Thanks.

I know it's last on your list.....but I saw a 4speed,cables, and shifter (all different auctions, same person I think) on EBay earlier this morning...  How did you break it?  .../\/\

I have the 4 speed with cables and shifter and if I remember right you gave me an automatic that I haven't picked up yet? Trade?

How'd that happen?  Sometimes they just go, like the 4-speed in the 85 Robbie has.  No warning, no noise, just BAM!

If you're set on a Getrag and don't take Robbie up on his offer, Don and Ashby have one out of an 86 GT.  Same car Peter and I got the headlights and seat from.

Re: Looking for Getrag, Isuzu, or 4 speed.

    Thanks all!

I think I've got a line on another Getrag (Not the one that Don has. That one is apparently spoken for.) If that doesn't pan out, I'm very likely going to go with the 4 speed. (That one is pretty much lined up, too.)

How did it happen? I dunno, really. I hammered it pulling out of the parking lot, but I was already rolling and the clutch was already engaged, so there was really no shock loading on the tranny. I noticed as I was getting on 285 that the tranny was very loud. Don was behind me and received a shower of transmission oil. Apparently, whatever broke (I'm thinking the differential carrier) caused the axle and axle seal to pop out of the tranny. We pulled off the road and got the axle plugged back in, but there was *all kinds* of sloppiness in the differential that wasn't there before. I poured a bunch of oil into the tranny, and made it home. Barely.

Don, thankfully, followed me home. Albiet at a safe distance. Not any fun getting showered with oil or (potentially) hot transmission parts. Yes, it was that bad. (The phrase "It's dead, Jim." comes to mind.)

Robbie, I appreciate the offer. If what I'm looking at doesn't work out, I may take you up on it.

That settles it: I'm DEFINATELY going to build a girdle for the Getrag that I got for the V8 Cabriolet. I plan to thrash on it at times. ;^D

Sorry to hear about yur tranny Steve. Just to be clear to everyone , I'm thinking that "if" you do choose a 4 speed , you want a 3:65 ratio from a V6  car , not the 4:10 from a 4 cyl car , right? There is a difference.

That's right. At this point I'd be afraid to put a 4 speed tranny from a 4 cylinder in my car, unless it only had a few miles on it. Don's 4.10 has held up well to everything that he's thrown at it but, at this point, I'm feeling a little "snake bit". I never thought I'd break a Getrag. Especially since I wasn't doing stuff like winding it up and dropping the clutch.
