    Axle seals and replacement speakers

I got the seals from Advanced in Loganville for $11.00 a piece.  Jeff at Long Pro is going to install them.

The Flowmaster goes on Tuesday at TJ's custom muffler shop in Youth, behind Wild West Barbecue, and if you like barbecue, go eat there and have a flowmaster put on while you wait.  You'll need it after eating all that food! : )

Speakers: 10 ohm - 4x10's on dash - should I get the stuff from Fiero Store or will 8 ohms work? Does the replacement stuff from Fiero Store come in 10 ohms as the original?  I am keeping the original radio (Delco) in.

My speedo has not worked, and today while my wife and I were driving, she said "now when is Ed sending another dash cluster."  I told her that it was probably the speed sensor as everything else is working, then I pointed to it and had to do a double take!  One tenth of a mile earlier the thing had started working!  Weird.  I have only driven 10,000K without it, then she mentions it and TahTah!  Cool.

Brakes at Pep Boys for $119 for front and the same for rear, unless I need to order new rotors (add $30 a wheel), but then I don't have to re-surface them.  Pads are $48.00 for front and the same for back. Hum...Might do it myself if I have time, which is not likely.

And last - The GA Triumph guys are coming to Stone Mountain this Saturday AM for a drive and tour.  I was suppose to give them a tour of the railroad shop, but I have to take my daughter to Valdosta State for auditions Friday and Saturday.  So if you guys want to get together sometime out there, let me know. Hopefully it will warm up soon.

Take care and hope to see you soon.  My membership did go to GA Fiero through PayPal, well at least PayPal took my money.

Re: Axle seals and replacement speakers

Addressing your question about the speakers:  A member just ordered the Fiero Store replacements.  They are 4 ohm.  The rear speakers are 2-way, while the front are standard speakers.  Didn't check to see if the power rating was listed.

I ordererd speakers from onlinecarstereo.com and after 3 months, they still hadn't shipped.  Seemed like speakers less expensive than mine were all out of stock, and they wouldn't give any compensation for the long wait, like free shipping, so I had to order another more expensive pair.  120 Watt, but everything they had was 4 ohm.  Couldn't find 10 ohm speakers anywhere.

Onlinecarstereo.com does have a good pair of 4 x 10 Pioneers for about $79, and that's about $20 cheaper than I've found them anywhere else.

If they're the TSA-4103s, I've had them in both of my cars for several years and am quite satisfied with them. They sound waaay better than the stockers and (as an aside) have better bass response than comparable Kenwoods. $79 is an excellent price, BTW. I still have the stockers in the B pillars.

I don't think you'll run into any difficulties using 4 ohm speakers in place of the original 10s. All it may do is make the front a little louder due to the larger current flow. (I didn't notice that it did, however.) I seriously doubt that you'll hurt anything.

Re: Speakers, seals, slide pins, and thanks Re: Axle seals and replacement speakers

Thanks for the info on the speakers.  I think I will go with some 8 ohm's that I found online that are three way jobs.  the are 120 watt speakers and they are selling them for an amazing $64 for the pair.  It is some huge discount place in Canada, and yes, that is US dollars.

Well, Pep boys is doingg my brakes as we speak and I had to go hunt for a caliper slide pin, as the previous owner had used some threaded rod that had bent, which is why my brakes kind of did not work real well.  Anyway, I found som pins digging throuh the supply at Advanced Auto.  Yup, they work.  Rotors are good and a quick re-surface will do.  New pads front and back and Melvin is going to pop the axles and put in the seals.  Great guy!

This gave me a chance to air out my Porsche 914 ('72), and that thing will fly!  I think I got rid of the mosquito population in Loganville when I drove her for the first time in a number of months (see leaky valve cover gaskets and owner too lazy to take time to fix at this point in time).  Fun car and another mid-engine model.

Thanks again.  See you soon.  My car will be at Pep Boys in Snellville until tomorrow evening, then it's pay and go again.

    Take care,
